Saving Private Ryan.

Pvt Jackson ( Barry Pepper) in final moments of epic awesome scene of all time : Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight. My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust.O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me. .....

Jurassic Park; I was a bit of a dinosaur nut as a kid, so I remember my jaw dropping watching that movie. Even collected a bunch of JP stuff back then. Good childhood memories (there aren't many, which makes it extra special)

It's awesome. I think part of what makes it good is that the "hero" is kind of a bit of a yuppy weasel who becomes a man by the end of the ordeal. That and you never actually see the truck driver chasing him, it's more an entity. It's just really well executed.

Its strange just how much I relate to this post. I remember just how blown away I was when I watched Jurassic Park back when I was 8-9 I think. I don't know why, but the movie just infected me with a strange passion for anything dinosaurs related. I too started collecting stuff relating to the movie, even though I had very little money to sustain such an interest. Only difference between us is that I don't think I have good childhood memories. Even the few memories that are supposed to be good ones do not feel good at all. Quite the opposite in fact.

Few years ago I watched the movie again and scratched my head through the entire thing wondering what is it that felt so fascinating about it back then rofl

Masterpiece all the way through, but the ending is so hauntingly memorable.

Agreed. Chris Rocks best movie.

@GazaAli: Well, like I said, I don't have many good childhood memories, but I do have some, as I'm sure you'll have some...the difference might be what you consider "good memories".

Some people will say they have great memories when they went somewhere they loved as a family, or a special present their parents bought them, or their siblings doing something special for them...something like that. To me, good memories were when I had enough to eat and wasn't being beat up, abused by my parents or in the hospital (where I spent over half my life until I turned 12). One of the most magical moments of my childhood was when my school went on a free trip to the Planetarium, and I remember being so grateful for 1) Getting to go somewhere 2) Nobody from my family being there with me so I could enjoy myself...Oh, the ticket to watch JP was free too, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to go XD

Jurassic Park was one of those movies that got it right when they were filming Dinosaurs back in the early 90's and I still have the VHS. Jurassic Park was my first STEVEN SPIELBERG movie and from that point on, I was a Dinosaur dude and the reason why the film did so well was because they didn't use that much CGI crap what you see today, [not that I don't hate it mind you] showing how they made Dinosaurs was the best part that made me love the film even more, first time I seen Samuel L. Jackson, the script was well done, and the best Dinos were the Raptors. The Lost World Jurassic Park was okay only because they introduce new Dinosaurs but the movie was only good until the T-Rex want to the City and then it became lame. Jurassic Park 3 sucks, I'm sorry but it suck. Hopefully, the new Jurassic Park would do justice but until I see a trailer, I got no hope for this new one.

As for the rest of this article my top 7 STEVEN SPIELBERG films:

7. The Goonies [still have the VHS 1985]

6. Hook.

5. Indianan Jones and the Temple of Doom. [my first Indy movie]

4. A.I.

3. Saving Private Ryan.

2. Jaws.

1. War of the Worlds.

Hard to pick a favorite. His last truly decent film was "Saving Pvt Ryan", then he almost completely fell off. I'll have to go with a top 3:

1) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

2) Jaws

3) Duel

@EasyComeEasyGo Richard Donner directed The Goonies. Steven Spielberg only produced it.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park. I thought that the movie had some really great scenes. Like when the Mother and Father T-Rex step out of the woods after pushing the big trailer off the cliff and finish off the guy who was trying to save the characters still in it. The Velocoraptor hunt scene in the tall grass was fucking awesome too. So was the guy stuck under the T-Rex's foot getting stepped on over and over.
