You know, I don't mean best movie of all time or the most beloved movie of all time, I mean a movie that had a really big effect on the whole planet when it was released and the effect remained even after it's release. I am guessing it's the original Star Wars. But what do you think?

Edit: Please tell your reason too. ( if you think it's needed.)

I guess Star Wars, because it's a huge franchise that makes the films still relevant today due to the fact that they are still pumping out new products.

You know, one of the IMDb reviews about Citizen Kane was very interesting. the reviewer said Citizen Kane was one of the biggest cinema swindle of all time and called it empty and boring and gave it 1 out of 10. now the other interesting thing that many people agreed with the review.

When something is universally lauded as being important people will automatically hate it for no reason other than just to "go against the grain".

I disagree. "Talkies" were bound to come along anyway, being the first isn't necessarily of import. Same goes for the first motion picture flim (The Passion Play of Oberammergau). In fact, how many people have even heard of that movie?

Star wars Star wars helped engineer the idea of the star wars nuclear defense program which helped fuel the destruction of socialist russia. In all it probobly only helped with the name, but it still is a influential factor. yea, cant really beat that.

Citizen Kane, of course.

I can't be bothered to get into an argument about it, though, because I'll be too busy driving my automobile down to the barber's to get my mustache trimmed as I inspect my new top hat with my monocle.

The scene in which Ace deducts how a man was pushed out a window rather than jumped (as the police thought) is the most important scene in history.

From what I understand, it greatly expanded on what people thought movies could accomplish as far as narrative and scope is concerned.

The DVD (or Blu-ray) version might do something different...But the actual film has a "built-in" intermission. I suppose that's for the best considering how long it is.

I think that they just keep the original intermission graphic so that they didn't tamper with the film. Metropolis had that too when I watched it on DVD.

:P That's what I meant about "super incredibly well done." I had to do an essay on its merits as a film in my art direction class in college, and that's what it all boils down to. Doing things exceptionally well XD I'm much too lazy to spent any significant amount of time posting about it when it can be summed up easily. :P

I believe Barry Lyndon had an intermission, and Lawrence of Arabia also. I've only ever experienced it once at the cinema though (Fellowship of The Ring).

I dont see how removing the intermission tampers with the original film -considering how the director made the film without an intermission which was later added so that the audience has a break-, but anyway, I would hate to have the intermission in a DVD. Thank god none of my LOTR DVDs have them.

Hey people, do you think "to kill a mockingbird" will get any chance to be some kind of important movie? and if yes, why? Read somewhere it's a very important movie, but couldn't figure the reason.

Strange you say that. He found Transformers to be an incredibly enjoyable movie, and considering his love for action movies, he likely has a shrine about Statham :P

Probably Star Wars, because it revolutionized how movies are made.
