Atheism, it takes quite a bit of faith to believe that the world and life just happened out of no where so it should count as a religion.Espada12
That is not what atheism is, and even if it was. It wouldn't be a religion.

I'd say none of them, which is why so many churches losing people.
Buddhism, most likely.

It probably comes closer than most but I still wouldn't say it it really in touch with the times.

none of them, considering they mostly predate modern times by at least a millenia. And the modern ones are just plain crazy imo, and to most others (i.e. scientology), so they are not in touch.

Not a religion, but the people, the non-extremist believers of Islam have a higher priority in scientific research than those who are Christan. I need to find where I've read that.

The Middle East used to have be one of the most scientifically advanced places on the Earth ( I forget which part though), but that was thousands of years ago.
Nope, the middle east was then center of Technology untill around 1500-1600. That only changed becasue of the Reqonquista (Castile+Aragon's conquest of Granada, then Both nations united and made Spain) which brought new thoughts into Europe. And the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople caused the enlightend minds of the now defunct Roman Empire head west (into Italy, and France, the German states that made up the Holy Roman Empire) which helpedbringforth the Renaissance. Even then, The Ottomans where then main Technological Power for quite sometime. Also When the Arabs conquered Eygytp back in the 600's, they preserved many Greek works of literature and math from destruction.Back on topic, I would say its Buddhism.
all that new age junk. its corny as hell, but at least
- it doesnt promote bigotry
- it doesnt discourage psychology, psychiatry, or medicine
- it doesnt indoctrinate children
- it doesnt receive tax cuts
- it doesnt get in the way of education
- it doesnt have militants
- it doesnt control governments and execute people for petty crimes
- it doesnt have a unified clergy
- it doesnt call for conversions
- it doesnt have very much of what could be called dogma
- it promotes a genuine appreciation of life and peace
it may make you sound like a hippie fruitcake but you could be worse off. its perfectly compatable with modern society. Its the ideal religion. the kind that doesnt interfere with day to day life or politics.
Buddhism has been the most influential on Western culture for a while I feel like.quiglythegreatBuddism is a trend by Richard Gere....it doesnt last however... How about the Hare Krishnas....?? not so many of them now since the 60's trend...
Quantum physics. They believe in a dark energy that surrounds the universe, yet they only have supporting evidence to back up their claim. Until there is absolute proof of dark energy, it must be considered a matter of faith that it truly exists. I know not everyone may agree with my assesment, but how cool would it be to have a bunch of technophiles wearing white cloaks worshiping the almighty dark energy? Ok, I've seen too many sci-fi movies.
