As the topic suggests, what if the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire)won WW1? Or, any other what ifs we can come up with. And it will be refreshing to discuss it other than WW2.

Where do you live? And it all depends, it could be an Ottoman Colony, or a Austrain-Hungarian Colony.

Malaysia, and if for some reason my great grandfather and grandfather didn't come here due to some unforeseen variables, I would probably be in the Fujian province of China.

Then:

1) The US would still be isolationist.

2) Britain would be alone.

3) Germany + Austria would have become one state.

4) France would probably have been annexed by them.

5) The large German state would have ignored Russia withdrawing from the war do to its own civil war, invaded and captured it...

6) Germany would have slowly but surely annexed all of Europe until basically what is the EU today would be a single German/Austrian state.

7) WW2 wouldn't have happened.

8) Cold War wouldn't have happened.

9) Eventually German influences would spread south and east, taking all of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia...

10) Eventually it would have reach North and South America...

11) Entire world lives peacefully under a single German state...

Maybe they should have won?

A game called Diplomacy, where lying is part of the game. Huh, i doubt you would be in a german, Austrain-Hungarian, Ottoman Colony then, as Malysa was dutch controlled iirc.

hitler only came to power in germany because their pride was broken after WW1,

especially after The Entente Forces gave most of the blame on Germany alone, because they where afraid it could grow and become a great competitor,

and thats exactly what happend, simply because they threated them that way.

So without all those factors, its hard to guess what would have happend, especially form a "we would all be speaking german" hurr durr point of view.

Why don't you think Austria-Hungary would have joined with Germany? If Germany wanted them to be part of their empire instead of just allies, it wouldn't have been difficult at all for Germany to force them into their empire. Germany was much stronger than Austria-Hungary, so Germany could have easily conquered them if they wanted.

True, but then Russia, Briton, France, and Italy would Intervine as a Greater Germany would tip the Balance. But maybe none of them would interfer. I love "what if" Scenarios for WW1.

most likely, most of us wouldn't have been born. My grandparents came here from Ireland during WWII and my dad was born here and met my Mom who's family has been here a very long time. And obviously, WWII wouldn't have happened (at least not in the same way) if the central powers won.

France would either been annexed or suffered the same fate as Germany after WWI but Britain would have been fine none of the central powers had the capacity to invade and even with money the ottomons would have collapsed due to internal strife leaving germany as the major power in europe and a cold war would likely have occured between Germany and Great Britain with both Russia and USA taking an isolationist role in world politics.

The allies would have had to raise money to pay off the Germany's war debt while having a limited and failing economy, causing a desparate situaiton where a crazy guy was able to come in to power and start WWII. Germany gets a bad rap for WWI. They weren't evil -- they were simply honering a commitment.

One thing you guys missed was how immensely different the Middle East would be with the Ottoman Empire surviving and all western influence in the region dissolved.. Israel most certainly wouldn't have existed, and the governments would probably be socialists possible democracies later on..

I've read a book on this, which argued that France would have been plunged into another revolution, and Britain might still be an empire today. The only way germany could have won would be in the first year of the war, if the Schlieffen plan had worked, they would have swept the Belgium and british armies into the sea and taken Paris in one move

WW2 probably wouldn't happen because Germany wouldn't have all the debts and other punishments thrown at them after the war, and thus the Germans wouldn't have been desperate enough to follow Hitler's rule.

But hey, alternate history has so many possible answers.

Before or after US sided with allies.

Would be key in determining world shape. Along with how it was one.

The most likely scenario would have France in a similar condition as Germany after WW1, but England would be mostly safe with its steal fleet. So England would lose some smaller colonies, and receive debts they owe but ould still be a big player in world stage.

So...

US: Mostly OK.

UK: Broke, but mostly OK.

France: Simply ******

Germany: Mega Power

Russia: Still revolutionising.

Italy: ???, they kept switching sides after all.

Austria-Hungry: Unstable, but still alive.

Middle East: Not as ***** up, with Britain never colonizing.

Well it depends, would Russia go into teh revolution? It all depends, what mostly sparked it was the loss of most of Czar's armies in Germany (iirc). Now that I think of it, we would probebly have been better off with the Central powers winning actually.

WW2 would have never happened for one, not the way it did at least. WWI's main outcome was the fall of empires across the world and I think that even if the central powers had won it probably would have played out similarily. I think by now things would be very similar to how they are but Hitler would never have risen to power and some of our values may be a little different. People seem to forget that there wasn't really a "good" side in WWI, it was just empires fighting to expand/keep their empires and in the end Versailles was the biggest kick in the nuts from that entire war since it came and bit everyone back 20 years later.
