What do you think of Linkin Park's new direction?

I'm listening to their new album, One Thousand Sons, and so far, I don't know what to think... Overall, I'm not liking it much. It sounds nothing like them. I must admit, I LOVE When They Come For Me. Amazing drums, but I really was expecting much better.

cashing in on the electronic music trend right now, heard the single and just think how these guys changed from rock/punk whatever in the 90's when it was popular and now that house, trance etc. is all the rage, they are playing that. Musical capitalism at it's finest.

The album sounds like a church chorus, for me it was a HUGE letdown save for the song Catalyst other than that it was nothing compared to their previous work, nothing! I say

I've liked none of their directions, They just sound bad. And as someone said above, its music capitalism at its finest is what describes them.

It's all mainstream crap now. They'd probably fit well in Europe since people there like electronica, trance or whatever it's called. I think it's Europe that it is popular... I've noticed we steal lot from there like fashion and music.

I like the old Linkin Park over the new one.

I haven't really liked Linkin Park since I was in middle school and Hybrid Theory/Meteora was the soundtrack of my puberty-stricken, angsty nerd child life. Minutes to Midnight was awful, and listening to Thousand Suns is physically painful. Makes me feel girly listening to it. I miss when Chester had that snarl and Mike actually rapped.

I hate it. To be honest though, I've not liked anything they've done after Hybrid Theory.

I'm sick of hearing about Linkin park in OT.

I like it. Then again, I like a whole range of music. My iPhone has everything from Parkway Drive (metal) to Yellowcard, Eminem to Panic at the Disco, Bullet for my Valentine to Anberlin.

There are few artists I dislike (Bieber being one of them)

To put it simple: everything after Meteora sucks. Until recently, I wouldn't mind seeing them live. But now I realize they'll probably play some of this crap.

I think they suck pretty hard right now

I like it....it may not be the old Linkin Park but some parts on that album were done really well

when you get famous for a certain genre you shouldn't piss off your fans by switching to a genre so far and away from that genre.

From what I've listened to, it's pretty decent. Not great.

There's a couple really good songs, but on the whole I really didn't like this album, nor do I like the direction they are taking their sound. I preferred Minutes to Midnight or Hybrid Theory.

I lost interest in Linkin Park after their first album.

I'm disappointed they are still making music. If they retired, that would be a step in the right direction.

They changed the genre of music they create, no big deal. No artist likes doing the same thing over and over, it gets boring.

Yeah i liked Linkin Park a lot for their first two albums, but not so much anymore. But i am not going to complain about how Linkin Park doesn't fit my style anymore. I just won't listen to their new stuff much and listen to their older stuff more.

I preferred how they used to be a lot more, but that is how it usually is when you like bands from their first albums.

The constant bashing of Linkin Park's newer albums is getting really old. Come on guys, Hybrid theory was released ten years ago, LP has moved on, we should too. We all love the older stuff, but I'd rather that a band try something new rather than just release the same album over and over again.

On topic, I thought both Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns were fantastic. This is how I'd rank them

Meteora > A Thousand Suns > Minutes to Midnight > Hybrid Threory

Linkin Park was never a favorite band of mine. But this new direction they've taken is not that good. Hybrid Theory was good, but after that they have gone down hill.

I don't think it's great, but it isn't terrible. I like Minutes to Midnight the best at of all their albums, but none of their albums are "awesome" imo.
