For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about in japenese cartoons that reach USA/EU the voices are dubbed and the characters speak english whereas normally they would speak Japenese

I just wanted to know which of two you guys prefer

I personally like them depending on the anime, as in DBZ I prefer dub voices whereas in programmes like naruto I prefer the japenese voices (believe it!)

Dubbed. I find the japanese tones and voices to be hysterically annoying and make me want to shove pencils through my ears :| Btw japanese voice acting is so corny, you can tell how bad they are by listening to them voice over the character that is showing 1/432th of their "emotion" that they are faking. Imho, maybe i'd understand if I was japanese?!?!?!?

I like to draw while I watch anime, and the only way I can understand is if it's dubbed.

The acting quality in a lot of dubs is poor though there are some good ones.

There are several other subtle things that make me prefer subs as well. The Japanese language seems to fall into a rhytm much like they're talking in a shakespearean dialogue. Tone also seems to complement the Japanese Language to tell th mannerisms much better than it does the English Launguage.

Other than a few localized anime films like Castle in the Sky I haven't heard English dubbing that is better than the original Japanese. Most of the time it is so atrocious you wonder how little money they spent on finding voice actors and even if they are registered voice actors and not schmoes off the street.

I hear Cowboy Bebop is good but I would suspect it to be in the massive minority. The two of my favourite animes, Ghost in the Shell (films and Stand Alone Complex) and Neon Genesis Evangelion have absolutely terrible English dubbing that makes me want to gouge out my ear drums.

I prefer japanese voices. Dubs are never as good as the original audio, not just in anime, but in pretty much anything, if you don't understand the language then that's what subs are for.

Btw, what does (just for the jokes) mean in the poll? I wanted to vote subs, but I don't get it... :?

Some dub voices are alright, a lot of them are terrible, though. It depends on if it's a high quality dub, one you could really tell they spent work on, or if it's a bad dub that was clearly done as an after thought of production (Believe it!).

Original voices. I watched once Great Teacher Onizuka with American voice acting. That was the most traumatic experience of my life.

I watch either one. I understand alot of Japanese because it's spoken in my house alot. But I understand it more clearly in dub.
