I'm curious to see what everyone does here, since I take interest in the occupation of others, espeically if I know very little about it. If you're a student and don't work, then feel free to list that, but let us know about your major. Feel free to add a description too. :)

As for me, I'm currently working as an office manager at Microsoft (one of the branches, that is). Other than that, I do modeling gigs from time to time and I do freelance writing.

I'm looking forward to hearing what others have to say.

Well, right now I'm just a senior in high school. I used to have a part-time job in retail, but I quit awhile back. I'm going to start job hunting again soon. I want to major in either computer science or biology when I go to college, so I hope to have a career in either of those fields someday. :)

Well I used to work in a Tire Place as a worker/manger until the crappy inspector kicked in because some retard in our other store complained about us for some reason... So since I'm only 16 I'm underage for that kind of jobs so they put me on hold until he goes away.

I was an office manager for a tech company (made antispam/antivirus software) until a little over a month ago. Now I am blissfully unemployed and getting some much needed down time after years and years of work.

I'm joining the military to be a Devil Doc. Hopefully that'll eventually lead to a career in something like Special Forces.

Props to anyone who knows what that is.

Buck_Hotep

Doctor would be an inappropriate designation. Doctors have a lot more training for different situations. Doctors do things I can't and don't want to do. I'm just a simple medic.

I don't know why they call them "Docs".

I'm actually a part of the Navy, so I can apply for MARSOC, Force Recon, the SEALs, and the SWCCs.

Still working in the entertainment industry - at a talent agency to be exact. I am an agent in training.

What do I do? We put our clients (actors in my department since I handle theatrical: motion picture and television) in well... TV and movies. We negotiate how much they get paid (which you hate them for) and make sure that they are taken care of and handle all their contracts and what not. Over salary, the agency also gets 10-20% of the gross amount of each paycheck they get.

Other parts of the job involves a lot of talking on the phone and meeting people for lunch and drinks. Managers, producers, studio execs, network execs, actors, writers, etc. Reading scripts (for every 1 good script is 5 bad ones -- really bad ones).

Going to premieres and plays for free and after parties and goody bags and seeing tv shows before anyone else are great perks (except for spoilers  ). But when you first start of, the hours are long and the pay sucks.

But I love my job and can't think of doing anything else.

I'm a professional pianist and music instructor. And though I prefer to keep it in the non-professional realm, I enjoy composition as well.

I'm the last monkey from this joke  A tourist walked into a pet shop and was looking at the animals on display. While he was there, another customer walked in and said to the shopkeeper, "I'll have a C monkey please." The shopkeeper nodded, went over to a cage at the side of the shop and took out a monkey. He fitted a collar and leash, handed to the customer, saying, "That'll be $5,000." The customer paid and walked out with his monkey. Startled, the tourist went over to the shopkeeper and said,"That was a very expensive monkey. Most of them are only a few hundred pounds. Why did it cost so much? "The shopkeeper answered, "Ah,that monkey can program in C - very fast, tight code,no bugs, well worth the money." The tourist looked at a monkey in another cage. "Hey,that one's even more expensive! $10,000! What does it do?" "Oh,that one's a C++ monkey; it can manage object-oriented programming,Visual C++, even some Java All the really useful stuff," said the shopkeeper. The tourist looked around for a little longer and saw a third monkey in a cage of its own. The price tag around its neck read $50,000.The tourist gasped to the shopkeeper, "That one costs more than all the others put together! What on earth does it do?" The shopkeeper replied, "Well, I haven't actually seen it do anything, but it says it's a project manager".

I think security companies emply hackers to test out their systems, but that might just be the movies.

DaBrainz

It isn't that direct really. The hiring of hackers situation is usually more in a position where they're in charge of helping secure a network. They may use their experience as a helpful too but knowing how to bring something down doesn't mean you know how to build it up.
