Lately I've been listening to a band named Red which I'm sure some of you have heard of, but they've only sold a little over 100,000 albums so they really aren't all that poular. I was wondering if you guys were listening to any bands that aren't very popular that you were willing to share.

Here's their wikipedia page and a music video.

I dont really listen to a lot of bands and all of them are popular. In terms of hip hop, I could name a lot.

Well, nothing that hasn't been popular at some point in time. But I'm listening to a lot of like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, etc. which aren't as big as they used to be.

Every band I listen to isn't known by many people in the US or Gamespot. Satyricon, Celtic Frost, Hellhammer, Immortal, Morbid Angel, Bathory, Burzum, Ildjarn, Unleashed, you get the idea.

TC Red is awesome, but anyway I listen to bands like Eyes Set to Kill, Kids In The Way, A Change of Pace, and Victim Effect. None of which are very popular, I'm sure I listen to more unpopular bands but I can't think of them now.

Any ECM release- one might say "ooh, jazz, not my thing", but "jazz" in this case is a VERY broad term. What they put out is more "atmospheric music with no common base point from very diverse aesthetic/intellectual influences". Consider ECM the Benedikt Taschen of the music world (as opposed to the coffee table book world).

Most of the rock I listen to, my friends have heard of it. But that's because it's mainly classic rock.

Now, in rap terms, pretty much everyone I listen to might be considered popular, but my friends have NEVER heard of them.

I just thought of another band. The Medic Droid. They're pretty unique, but I'm not sure about the sexuality of the band members. You'll know what I mean when you go to they're Myspace page, although I could be completely wrong because I know nothing about emos. They're not the best but the potential is there.

mm, I'll always enjoy frankenstein and rebel, and they still seem like fun but...I'm gonna dare to say theyre becoming a lot more popular now, particularly with "scene kids" (at least in my region) and as much as I hate to throw around the word "sell-out" its starting to seem more and more like it to me...
In addition to that...they came to around here and charged like $25 for a ticket at a medium-smallish venue, its kind of bull.

As for less popular I listen to a looooot of indie and old pop punk like Husker Du, The Replacements, and then stuff like Dinosaur Jr, The Pixies as mentioned earlier, and tons more.

The Mars Volta is kind of a more niche popular, but I always will love them

Edit: Forgot to mention The Dear Hunter is cool, and mc chris ftw!

TV on the Radio

In a just world, they would get far more radio play than, uh...none.

I just thought of this, but in a way, they are probably the closest band to a modern equivalent of The Doors.

Are you dumb? Foo Fighters are majorly popular!
