I like to think it's for my amusement as that's what the voices keep telling me, but my basic suspicious nature tends to think that they are lying to me and are merely setting me up for a big fall. Regardless I would say to follow your muse and do what your feelings dictate to make your short time on this planet seem worthwhile no matter how small your plans may be. Eventually it will all end and everyone will be dead so it's best not to think about the big picture of a lasting legacy unless it involves the immediate nature of your legacy involving your children.

Then you keep going from day to day hoping you find new goals or desires.

You only have one chance to exist; why throw that away because today sucks, when you have thousands of tomorrow's that could bring new meaning to your life?

As Tim Robbins once said, "you can either get busy living, or get busy dying." If you don't have any goals, then set some goals.

And if the thing you lived for is depriving you of your will to live, then find something else to live for.

Basically just depends on the extent to which you want to live. You're free to make your own decisions. That's all up to you.

I honestly don't have a clue, we can choose to reproduce or not, we can choose to have goals and accomplish them. I don't really think this should be a question.
