I put this movie in my DVD player for the first time ever yesterday, and I took it out before 20 minutes. It was truly terrible.

The idea of representing werewolves and vampires as handsome sexual beasts is nothing new so I don't see what's so surprising about this revelation. The romance genre has quite literally hundreds of vampire/half vampire/vampire hunter/werewolf/monster hunters as handsome a romantic lead books out there and it has spread to the more standard horror and fantasy genre like wildfire in the last handful of years due no doubt to the post Buffy void left in many fans hearts.

A lot of these romance authors simply skewing their works towards the younger audiences and they've been very successful as they not only have the atypically rabid teen fan base, but they have brought the older women with them who now have more to read as well as something that they can bond with their daughters.

Honestly that picture of the Wolf Pack group just looks like the dozens of titles dealing with the horror/romance angle that I see on a daily basis for some years now.

Good Lord, how does crap like that get published let alone a freaking fan base?

Seriously, I could IMPROV a book 100X better than that trash of a storyline....

[spoiler] Btw, in the end of the fourth book, they are called shape-shifters, not lycanthropes. It was a mistake made by the "vampires" in the book. (...Vampires so don't go sparkly in the sunlight, nor are they fangless! :x) [/spoiler]

That's just wrong. I hate Twilight. I read some of the plots on Wikipedia to see what the fuss was about and I didn't see anything so great about them. And the plots were less than basic.

It looks fine to me. Just to let everyone know, the "Werewolves" in the book are more like large wolves. That means they don't walk on two legs and they don't have any human life features (except hair color). so they are actually very different from the "typical" werewolf that we see normally. And this is a completely different director so we may be getting a less different style in the movie compared to the first..i am thinking it is going to be more generic when it comes to camera angles and music and scenes.

The thing that attacts so many people to Twilight is not necessarily the romance part to it (there are hundreds of teen romance books), but the atmosphere that the author creates. Stephenie Meyer is very good at creating a likable and believable atmosphere. There aren't very many authors that i know of who can create an "atmosphere" in a book and make it likable.

Stephanie Myer is a genius. I wish I had thought of writing about perfect sparkly vampires and poorly written romance first, God damn. She saw that teen girl demographic and she jumped right on it; now she's rich... and i'm not.

Outrage aside, if I knew I could make millions turning classic monsters into the next tenny-bopper fad which would have millions of teenage girls (and some of their moms and aunts) spend ungodly amount of money on then I would've made the vampires not just sparkle in the sunlight but smell like fresh-baked cinnamon. I would've made the werewolves --- sorry, shapreshifters --- shift into boy band-level hair and physique while at the same time having the two opposing monsters fight it out West Side Story-style.

Haa Haa, everyone is in a hoopla over Twilight.

It's okay, I have the books, Hardcover but I got em $10 bucks a piece so I like a bargain.

I prefer True Blood, it's raunchier and sex scenes are hee hee.

Season Two has werewolves, too, and BTW TRUE BLOOD was written before Twilight.

I honestly pray they are decent looking when they are changed into wolves, and not just some trained regular wolves running around.

i used to have a union here on GS called the werehouse. and it was all about werewolves. i also used to use nothing but pictures of werewolves for my sig, banner, and avatar. you can bet that if the werehouse union still existed, then me and the other guys would be facepalming. or should i say facepawing? :P

my understanding is that the "werewolves" in twilight are actually shape shifters. guys that can turn into wolves. sorry, but that's not a real werewolf. just like you're not really a vampire if you're a vegetarian, don't have fangs, and sparkle in the sunlight. Twilight just makes me want to vomit.

If it makes you feel any better TC, they're not werewolves. They're shape shifters that have grown used to that form.
