Too tired to stay awake

34p an hour!

'The mostly female workers, aged 18 to 25, work from 7.45am to 10.55pm, sometimes with 1,000 workers crammed into one 105ft by 105ft room.

They are not allowed to talk or listen to music, are forced to eat substandard meals from the factory cafeterias, have no bathroom breaks during their shifts and must clean the toilets as discipline'

'The organisation said that one worker was even fined for losing his finger while operating a hole punch press.'

Well I don't think I can ever complain about work again, this is really disgusting.

Obviously this isn't all Microsofts fault but they clearly are taking advantage of Chinas system (who doesn't though, right?)

So next time you buy something that says 'Made in China', just think of this picture.

Should we just boycott made in China products? Would that work?

I would be fully supportive of a boycott of products made in China, but unfortunately our market is far to over saturated with products made in China for that to work. Our companies would have to stop sourcing work out to foreign companies just to save on labor, and create jobs here in America. That would certainly help our economy to, but as I said, it probably wouldn't work. Corporations usually only have one blind goal that they'll reach for no matter the cost (ironically), and that's profit.

China is governed by the communist party who is anything but communist in reality.

The factory isn't owned by Microsoft so they have no say over such things.

Should we just boycott made in China products?

MushroomWig
That means pretty much no more electronics, all 3 of the top game consoles, iPods and iPhones are made by the chinese company Foxcon (the company that got caught torturing one of its own employees).

Oh, it's communist allright. It's the "new" communism, which is a marriage of corporations and the state to create an unholy union with the goal of enslaving all of humanity.

Come on, it's pretty obvious Microsoft know about the working conditions of factories abroad, the whole reason why they allow Chinese factories to make their products is because they know the workers work for much less and have less rights than their American counterparts. You're right though, the company isn't owed by microsoft and I know that many other companies allow this to happen, but it's pretty clear that they know about it.

Some are, some arn't. Though their age is moot, this is how nations develop, for a nation to develop someone is going to get exploited.

The people breaking this story are either idiots or some of the most selfish people around.

Yes, make it hugely public that a place is going to be getting inspected. Give them plenty of time to clean up the issues for the inspectors so they can pass and then go on back to their old ways when the inspection is over with.

Announced/planned inspections don't do jack crap. I have been through inspections at 3 different jobs and how things operate during inspection is ALWAYS different from the norm, granted in my case it was never anything terrible like this.

I really hate these journalists putting this out there because they likely just ****** the chances of that place getting shut down or seriously changed...
