Admittedly not being up to speed with the spider-man universe has he ever gone up one on one against the Hulk in the comics?

lol is this even a question. Spideman would be about as effective as a gnat, completely unable to do any damage to the hulk whatsoever. Eventually spiderman would run out of steam running and hulk would then proceed to smash.

Hulk and it's not even close. Spiderman can't even hurt Hulk. One hit from Hulk would kill Spiderman though.

I'm sure Spider-Man's constant Smartassery would piss off the Hulk to extraordinary heights propelling him to be the strongest being in the Universe.

It depends on which Hulk and how angry he is. Spiderman has defeated cosmic level beings before and the Hulk has been defeated by people like Captain America before

Um, the Hulk is, literally, invincible. He only gets stronger as he gets angrier. He's already faced off against other heroes in the Marvel universe and won; if the Hulk can tear Wolverine in half, then he can beat Spiderman.

This. Spiderman doesn't have super strength, regeneration, or speed. He just has spider senses and spider webs. As far as "Spiderman is faster, and can just run away" That isn't exactly "A fight between spiderman and the hulk" Hulk required an entire team of super-heros to contain him, which is the only way they could "control" the hulk's destruction.

ugh Spidey does have Superstrength, though not to the level of Hulk, has super speed and agility as well, and he can also heal faster than normal people though not at the level of Wolverine. You really have no idea what your talking about

The Hulk's strength and power is incalculable. The angrier he gets, the stronger he gets. Spider-Man is not even in the same tier as Hulk in terms of power. It would be over in one strike. EDIT: Hulk Spider-Man It's really hard to see a fight between them being fair. Hulk's strength and durability make him essentially invincible. Also note "4" on the grid is "regenerative" and "7" is "virtually indestructible". Thor, Loki and Thanos don't even have 7's in durability in the official grid.

Superman vs Hulk is more closely matched. This isn't even a competition, look at Loki, Hulk destroyed him in a few hits and Loki is stronger than Spiderman by a mile.

Whoever would make a better story.

Marvel characters do not have constant power levels. Juggernaut is on the level of Hulk and yet Spiderman beat him. How? Because the writer decided it so.

It all comes down to which Hulk, Which Spiderman, and whose comic they are in. If it's mindless hulk, Spiderman wins easily, if it's bruce in control of Hulk, probably a stalemate.

No, I'm saying traditionally, Spiderman doesn't have super strength or speed.
Just like how Superman's weakness is raw magic power. However once we get into things like Superman Prime, World War Hulk etc. Sure i can agree that Spider-man has super speed and strength.
However if we're talking the basic Hulk vs Spiderman, it's rude to make claims that Hulk would win based on the strength of World War Hulk, just as it's rude to make claims Spiderman has powers he doesn't usually have.

EDIT:

TLDR version: We're talking about Hulk Vs Spidey, Not World War Hulk vs Cosmic Spiderman.

Again you don't know WTF you are talking about. Among Spider-Man's original powers in the first comic book was the proportionate strength of a Spider, which since he was a human would give him the capacity to lift over 10 tons. That sounds pretty strong to me.

Wow, Nibroc doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. Because 1. Spider-Man does have super strength and agility as part of his basic powerset, and 2. webbing isn't actually one of his traditional super powers (his webshooters are mechanical in most of the comics).

That's why these threads are stupid. Garth Ennis wrote a comic where Punisher, a guy with no super powers, kills all the superheroes and villains in the Marvel Universe. It's author fiat, nothing more.

Hulk is terribly strong he could smash Spidey's bones with one hit. Hulk is fast. Hulk can also climb buildings.

Spider-man can dodge with his senses. Spidey is faster than Hulk. Spider-man can web Hulk (but that wouldn't be very effective)

Now that I am thinking I think Hulk would win... but I voted Spidey.

Realistically speaking I'd say any gains that putting on muscle mass would be negated by the loss of speed and agility. Spidey is strong enough to handle himself against pretty much anything. It's his speed and more importantly agility/acrobatic prowess that gives him his advantage. That and his Spider Sense, which is without a doubt his most important power.

This thread shows how much people here actually read the comic books. Anyway, Spider-manStarchaser187
I collected Comics from about 91 -97. Spider-Man was a my favorite title and I have well over 100 Spidey books alone. I have the full run of Maximum Carnage, The First three Venom Limited Series, The first 20 Books of X-Men, Including were Wolverine loses his Adamantium, X-Cutioners Song, Death of Harry Osbourne, Death of Superman, Entire Knightfall Saga, Most of the Return of Superman, and that's just what I can remember off the top of my head. But yeah the Spidey books were always my fav.
