This will be the first time I actually go to one of these gaming conventions so I have no idea what to expect. Is it mostly just huge crowds of people or are there actually things to do? Do they demo unreleased games and whatnot? I seriously have no clue.

I never have been there but I have watched some coverage on G4. It's a convention with lots of things to do. You can demo unreleased games, visit booths, and interact with gamers from all over the place. I suggest looking up some of G4 's coverage on youtube from last year (if its still there), or you can go in cold turkey and be surprised by the environment, it really doesn't matter. It's truly a great experience, wish I could go.
