I couldn't help but love the villain in it, but the main thing...

I couldn't understand what people were saying...

Wow that Texas accent... I think me trying to listen to that is the equivalent of a Texas person trying to follow a Glasweigian. I honestly had to go through the whole film trying to grab the vibes of what was going on. This is the first time I seen a movie in my own language I can't understand.

I give the movie credit however, It's good that it remains loyal to it's location and doesn't force a generic American accent on it's characters for our sake, a bit like Hollywood does to our Ewan McGreggor!

Solution - Watch it with subtitles and/or take some more ESL classes.

That's something the Coen Bros. are known for, authentic accents. Two great examples of this are Fargo and O' Brother Where Art Thou.

No Country For Old Men is a masterpiece, btw.

I wanted to try and watch it without subtitles. It became a challenge for me. Plus I was watching it on Sky in order to access that feature requires a bit more faff then a DVD. Was a good film, I wasn't sure if they had cut scenes from the Sky version as it was leaving a few blanks for me to fill in, or it was deliberate for whatever reason.

I thought the Fargo accents were a bit outlandish myself.

If I stat watching a movie and by minute 5 I still have trouble understanding what they're saying I put on the subtitles and then watch the movie a second time without them.

Subtitles are your friend in these cases.

Anywho, terrific film. Literally have nothing but praise for it.

i like that you mention the glasgow accent because kelly macdonald, who played carla jean (llewelyn's wife), is from glasgow :P

I rarely have a problem with accents. I guess because where I live accents are so varied.

yeah, i've read a lot of his work and he is great. my favorite of his is suttree.

Cool movie, i did understand the language. Pick a side, heads or tails, lol ..
