Over the past 2 day my friends and I have really gotten into RISK. What games are similar to it and have long campaigns and take into account distances and stuff like that?

Diplomacy. One of my more favourite board games. The rules can be frustrating at times but the game is a lot more fun then Risk. It requires actual skill and strategy over luck from dice rolls.

It's more like Chess than Risk though.

Stratego is more like chess, but I think it's really fun. It does take a little skill, but it's like memory mixed with luck.

Axis and Allies takes a long time, but it's very deep. Lots of unit types, resources, researching technology, etc.

There is another game called Shogun, which is like Risk in feudal Japan. It's got some unique elements to it.

Settlers of Catan isn't really the same kind of game - it's all about resource managements and planning ahead. There's very little action towards/against other players.

One of my all time favorite games is called Cosmic Encounter. It's pretty old, but it's like Risk in that you have armies trying to defeat other armies, but each army gets a super-power of sorts. It's one of the most versatile games I've ever played and I never get tired of it. It also has a random element in it that prevents the all-too-common problem of everyone ganging up on one player until he gets to frustrated they throw the board out the window.

Stratego is a classic, although it's not entirely like Risk.

I'm not sure about board games, but the Total War series: Medieval: Total War, Rome: Total War, are similar to risk on the strategic map.

Go is better than all those "classics".

Yep !If you want a very good board game go for Axis and Allies. You have the possibility to fight during the WWII in different battlefield. You can either play the world campaign, the Europe campaign or the Pacific campaign. It is really fun but a game needs at least 6 hours to be completed. I recommend you that great game especially if you have friends who like the WWII.
