Hey, i am taking my road test tomorrow, in Minnesota if anyone cares, and I was wondering what are some of the things that are automatic failures? Or does it vary from state to state?

lol the driving test is easy. The DMV employees are so disgruntled they don't give a **** who they pass or fail, and it's pretty obvious they don't care. My drivers test was a couple times around the block for about 15 minutes. hamstergeddonWhat state do you live in???
WHat if I can't 90 degree back into a parking space? :(Logan1616Practice? Thats one of the easiest thing to do.. And alot of peoples driveways are in L shape where you have to do that..
I don't know of automatic failures specific to your circumstances, but generally speaking automatic failures are anything that is considered a dangerous action - e.g., not stopping at a stop sign, running a red light, not properly yieldingthe right-of-way, that sort of thing.
I'm not sure because I didn't have to take a driving test to get my driver's license.... but just follow the rules of the road and I'm sure you will be fine. chathuranga
State? I bet parents are nervous wrecks if their children don't even have to pass a test to drive.

its really not that hard to do imo.
but i dont think thats a requirement to pass the drivers test. i never had to do that for my drivers test. i just went around the block a couple times and did an uphill and downhil parking then i was done. piece of cake
WHat if I can't 90 degree back into a parking space? :(Logan1616trust me you won't have to. and if they ask you to, just take your time and make it a 10 point parking job. better than slamming into another car.

prolly already been said, but i don't like reading threads:
rolling to stop twice, first time you're told, second time you fail.
1-6 miles over speed limit x2, first time you're told, second time you fail.
6+ over speed limit, first time you fail.
Not head checking when switching lanes, even if you have your mirror positioned so you can see everything, first time you fail
Obvious things, wrong lane, not taking first available lane on turns, running stop/red lights

That's what I want to know.. My local dmv guy is know to be very hard and he tries to fail as much people as possible. My brother filed and went to a different dmv guy by his school and passed easily. That's NYC for you. Everyone hates their jobs and takes it out on other people.

Colorado Ya, my friend's driver test involved him driving the instructor to Taco Bell and back, no joke. It just depends on who is your instructor.
I took my road test in Illinois...it seriously took me less than 5 mins.....I had to get out of the parking lot, stop at a light, turn in the parking lot, reverse, and then park in a empty parking lot....ReaperV7
thats even less than me. i live in illinois too and i basically had to do an uphill and downhill parking. then go around the block.
it was a joke
Slamming into a 9 year old boy who was playing football on the road and then scraping his entrails from the grill of your car is an automatic fail.

But couldn't you argue in the case where the boy was wearing very dark clothing and was thus very hard to see that it was really his fault, and not the driver's?
Automatic failures for my drivers test:
I managed to get it first try with a 93. Apparently I should have been closer to the center line while turning left.
refusing to do something the examiner asksOblivionfan10That's how we get so many terrible woman drivers passing there test. They do everything the examiner asks.

If the instroctor has to grab the wheel or smash on the breaks, thats a FAIL. If you back out of a parking lot and block both lanes, thats a FAIL. No turn signals at all get you some points lost but it might also be a FAIL.RTUUMMHow would the instructor smash the breaks? :?
How would the instructor smash the breaks? :?rockguy92
Many cars are specifically fitted as a car for driving instructors, and they contain passenger-side gas and brake pedals that override the driver-side pedals if depressed. This allows two things: for the driver to learn steering without needing to also be concerned about the pedals, and for the instructor to stop a driver from doing a potentially dangerous action.

What the heck, where do you guys live? :? Here, you need to take your own vehicle for your test, the DMV has no cars...[QUOTE="GabuEx"]

but yea at the DMV you have to drive your own car

Texas. I think if you do driver's ed you don't have to take the driving test. I did the parent taught driving so I had driven for a year with my learner's permit before I got my license.I've passed the road test twice in two states (Missouri and North Carolina). Basically, if you break a law (not stopping at stop signs, going over the speed limit, etc.) you fail.
