Idk, Dark Side of the Moon has had tremendous sales, I would imagine Floyd albums have outsold Genesis ones.

Agreed.

I realize that more people are partial to Pink Floyd and I'm going to be in the minority on this particular comparison. I just prefer the Genesis sound over Pink Floyd. Well, except for those late 80s Genesis albums like the self-titled one, Invisible Touch, I Can't Dance and even Abacab. Pink Floyd is easily superior to those albums. But I'd take Foxtrot, Duke, Wind and Wuthering, Selling England by the Pound, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway over the majority of Pink Floyd's work.

Justin Bieber has more sales than a lot of bands/artists, doesn't make him better. Just saying. Some people aren't really into "calming" music, and more than likely find Floyd boring sounding (I have a friend that said that). I myself can both relax/enjoy the music, and sing along with it lol.jesuschristmonk

I can't believe you would mention him in a Floyd thread.

I like both mellow, upbeat, softer and harder rock (except for most metal) but I like Genesis better because I think their soundscapes have more atmosphere. Their earlier prog rock work taps more into my imagination than Pink Floyd's work does. The intro of this song musically summarizes what I love so much about Genesis, not to mention everything from 5:27 to about 7:00.

But yeah, your album sales point is on point. Like I said, I listen to music, not sales.
