Pacific Rim 2 question

One thing I was wondering when I watched PR tonight. What are they gonna use against the Kaiju when they come back in the sequel? They already said they are gonna have a sequel so we can safely assume they are coming back. The problem is this, at the time of the movie the politicians were already saying screw Jaegers and went to putting all their money into the sea walls, even when there were Kaiju still running around. How they gonna convince them to pay for more Jaegers now that the bridge is down and there aren't anymore Kaiju to fight??

Del Toro has said he is currently working on a script, however Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures still have not given the greenlight for a sequel just yet. It may have been a hit overseas, but it only pulled in just over a little over $100 mil during its entire run stateside--and I guarantee that they're a bit hesitant on putting out a sequel right now.
