Watch:
Star Wars (1977) then Empire Strikes Back (1980) then Return of the Jedi (1983) in their original, unadulterated theatrical cuts.
Then play Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003) and it's direct sequel The Sith Lords (2004).
That's all you need.

This is the best of star wars... I can't decide if I would even recommend the prequels at all to be honest.
Watch the pre-quels too, they have some redeemable moments (Episode I and II). I quite like Episode III so I would totally recommend that one.

They are unnecessary (and largely bad movies). The negligible story they tell is already extant in the original trilogy.
And in order to go into The Force Awakens with understanding of what's going on, only Episode IV, V and VI are necessary.

Agree. This is the correct answer. I still own the originals Star Wars on VHS which are all true originals with no editing and most of all, Han shot first.

Not really. The prequels are unnecessary since the new movie won't have any direct continue for the new SW movie and the the only reasons the prequels existed in the first place was just so that GL can make more money. Don't get wrong, I never had a problem with the prequels, I enjoy them, [Jar Jar never bother me at all] they aren't a big deal to watch them since the new SW is taking place after Return of the Jedi.

Best versions were on Laserdisc. And Disney has already revealed they are doing Bluray versions of the unadulterated cuts.
Star Wars can suck my balls. Even the original trilogy.
So I guess that's why they call the mayor.
don't forget the two Ewok made for TV films, they're at least as good as any of the prequels if not better
here, I'll save you the trouble of finding them:
@lamprey263 thank you that definitely will save me the trouble of looking for it I am going to get started on them tomorrow since I'm off work so I'll have a full day of star wars
