no, all you're seeig is another NASA photoshop

Wolls

This guy gets it! Flags dont wave in space bro. Common logic.

But the transference of energy when the flag was placed into the ground coupled with no resistance could cause the flag to appear to be blowing in the wind when in fact it is not. Do you really give NASA so little creditability that when planning the biggest cover-up in the world that they just left a fan running in the background

I consider it more about the conspiracy theorists arrogance that they some how see the "truth" but no one else...

Except NASA doesn't own every observatory in the world.. There are numerous independent ones.. THEY MUST ALL BE IN ON IT!

Whos to say they arent? Hell Id be in on it too if I was getting bribed to keep my mouth shut. But Im here to tell you the truth.

Already explained in the first post. :P

NASA's Emily Lakdawalla, who was responsible for the photoshopping, explained it over at Planetary.org:

Cassini takes color pictures by snapping three sequential photos through red, green, and blue filters. In the time that separated the three frames, Dione moved, so if I did a simple color composite I would be able to make Titan look right, but not Dione; or Dione look right, but not Titan. So I aligned Dione, cut it out, and then aligned Titan, and then had to account for the missing bits of shadow where the bits of Dione had been in two of the three channels.

She explains the process further here, showing how some other images of Saturn and its moons have been photoshopped — but she didn't post any raw images of the Dione/Titan image that caused the controversy. So at least some conspiracy theorists were not appeased, demanding to see the raw images.

If they're hiding the existence of aliens out there, then why the hell would they show the pic in the first place? :?

If that's the alien's space fleet, would it arrive the designated time(Oct. 13th)? Seems far from our home sweet home. :P

OMG Yes,this like, this totally proves it..........:P

i just watched an episode of mythbusters where they were testing moon landing conspiracy theories... they tested this flag thing. they built a replica of the US flag on the moon and put it in a vacuum chamber, and shook it around to simulate the movement of the astronaut's hands. the flag kept moving for much longer than the flag in regular atmospheric pressure because there was no friction from the air.

That's where I stopped reading. If they were trying to hide signs of life, they wouldn't have bothered showing the picture at all, since I would think NASA knows it is not hard to find out if a pic is shopped in some manner.

TheShadowLord07

Exactly.

See...I don't know if people realize this, but their color digital cameras don't actually record color. They record LUMINOSITY. Each photosite is only designed to record HOW MUCH light is reaching that photosite. The reason that our digital cameras produce color pictures is because each photosite has a red, green, or blue filter over it. It's then possible to use the luminosity value from the red photosite, match that with the luminosity from the R, G, and B photosites next to it, and then ARTIFICIALLY determine the color for each individual pixel based on a complex mathematical formula which takes into account the luminosity from all adjacent photosites.

Again, no color recorded. Just luminosity values which go through either the red, green, or blue filters.

I don't know crap about NASA technology, but the explanation provided is a perfectly 100% satisfying explanation. It's merely just a different variant on producing a color image by combining different data from separate color channels. That's it. Unless anyone can show that that's not how the camera on the spacecraft works, then the explanation for the Photoshopping seems entirely plausible.

They couldn't just be cleaning up an image? I believe in intelligent life elsewhere, but this new alien fad is getting out of control. It's more annoying than the swine flu and earthquake fads combined.

Pirate700

On the earthquakes, that is how many major earthquakes happen yearly. It's just that the media actually decided to report on them. Swine flu is a completely different matter. The thing about swine flu was that if it had managed to mutant along side another, easily transferable flu virus the results could have been disastrous. If left alone h1n1 was only dangerous to the very young and the elderly; the average, healthy adult should have been able to fight it off. We're long overdue for an epidemic, something chalked up to the success of modern medicine, so it's always better to be on the safe side. Anyway, yes, the media did greatly over exaggerate both. I'm with you on this though; if they were going to try to cover it up why release the pic. The gaps in logic are hilarious.

We can't see what they actually look like. See the post above, we're just taking several different pcitures of different wavelengths and putting them together to make a picture that better represents the actual thing.

I hope you realize that a HELL of a lot of objects that NASA has photographed and then released photos of DON'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING. Because they're freaking false-color images photgraphed in the part of the spectrum which is INVISIBLE to the human eye.

It's really no different than when the weather guy "shows you" what the weather looks like by slapping some red and green blobs on screen.
