I watched the road to el dorado when I was a kid (about 6 years old or something) and I loved the movie, and then I watched it a few more times over the years, I think the last time I watched the movie was 3 years ago and I still liked it.

recently I found out that the movie was not well received by critics and that it was a box office failure...I was so dissapointed :(

and plenty of other action films which seem cheap but were nonetheless good

The Life Aquatic. I also liked the one with Robert De Niro going around to all his kids, who all turn out to be jerks.

Yeah, Guest House Paradiso. The critics hammered it, but it's still my favourite comedy movie of all time.

I liked Sucker Punch, the critics did not. I also love Blade Runner, and the critics hated that movie when it was released.

Chloe, I recently watched it on Netflix Streaming and I think it is one of the greatest erotic thrillers behind Basic Instinct.

So it turns out several movies I enjoyed (Hannibal Rising, My Name is Bruce, The 6th Day, Rambo 4) did not garner the same reactions from critics.

Starship Troopers, can't to this day comprehend how it can get anything under 90%. Oh yeah and all the Arnie/Stallone/Van Damme movies, although those I can more or less understand.

The Edge was not as successful as it should've been, also it wasn't seen as a great film by critics, it's a masterpiece by my standards Once upon a time in the West was panned by critics and now it a timeless classic and one of my favourite western movies

Grandma's Boy. Movie got like 1 star, but I love the hell out of it.

That movie is amazing. I never knew it wasn't liked. I checked the reviews for myself and it was absolutely trashed... Oh well, I still like it.

Loved the setting, characters, and visuals.

Not the best animated film of the years, by far, but a good unique animated movie.

Plenty of them, because critics don't like entertaining movies :P. If I were to pick an example, I'd say From Paris With Love. That movie was fantastic, and didn't recieve enough recognition. To me, a movie is succesful if it manages to entertain me. I never understood why people would watch a movie for any other reason.

The Jerky Boys. But that movie isn't made to be popular, it's funny for it's foul language and jokes.

I thought that was pretty good as well actually. There needs to be more adventure films, but more adult orientated (and no not tomb raider).

Tbh, I'm not hard to please when it comes to movies. Even if it was awful, there's still a good chance I liked it.

It's also widely considered to be one of the best sci-fi films ever so it doesn't really fit in this thread.

At times it feels like unless the movie is a cute animated flick or some dark brooding film where they can come out and act like they just saw something that gave them an epiphany they don't want to see it. Anyways, it doesn't really take too much for me enjoy a movie. Some of the ones I can think of are...essentially every comedy and action movie I've ever watched.

Bottle Rocket and The Life Aquatic are easily the two most underrated films of all time, and they are both directed by Wes Anderson. Really incredibly movies, and frankly unbelievable that they were received the way they were.
