Now usually I hardly get emotional over a song, but there is one, Dance With My Father - Luther Vandross.

The reason this song gets to me is just imagining what it would be like if it was true, it makes me sad.

So what's yours OT?

Don't know about the NIN songs, but the Nevermore and Iced Earth songs are definitely right up there. I think this song, though, is sadder than either.

For that type of music, you should listen to Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor. Truly amazing.

"I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour, but heaven knows I'm miserable now. I was looking for a job and then I found a job, and heaven knows I'm miserable now.

In my life, why do I give valuable time to people who don't care if I live or die?"

Now that may sound pretty sad but its actually a very uplifting song :) Lyrics aren't everything in music.

It most definitely is. For me, it's right up there with Dvorak's 7th Symphony, which is undoubtedly my favorite in the world of cIassical.

Gosh there's so many sad songs out there it's rather hard to pick a handful of "bests".

So I'll just mention Nik Kershaw's "Wouldn't It Be Good" just because nobody here has probably heard of it but unfortunately no linky as I am at work.

Not sure. But for me it's nothing that involves a drum set in any way. Nothing destroys a melancholic mood more than having a metronomic beat shoved in your face.

Um I'd say THIS SONG.

Its Greek but the chorus says:

"And I am terrified to be that about which for years you worry:
Beautiful, young and unlucky..."

Oh and of course "Disarm" by Smashing Pumpkins

I got that in a cd of Baroque Favourites, one of my favourites from it next to Pachelbels Canon.
