  • The Departed: Ugh. This film had outstanding-acting, but fell-flat on it's face at the end.
  • Donnie Darko: Not anything what I expected, at all. Bad-acting, cheesy-lines, weird-as-hell storyline. What did they see in this?
  • Star Trek: Nothing but visuals here.
  • Avatar: Very, very boring movie with ground-breaking CGI.
  • Unstoppable: This movie made "Taking of Pelham 123" seem like a great move.

I'll be sure to add more whenever they come to mind.

I liked social network but I didn't think it was nearly as outstanding as all the critics said. It was rather boring in parts and I felt it could have been shorter. I thought the departed was decent, but it took me a while to figure out what was happening because the main characters look the same

Hot Fuzz. If you've seen the trailer then that's it, otherwise prepare to be saying to yourself "show me the funny"...waste film and just about everyone I personally know who liked it is not funny in the slightest so at least that crap film served a purpose for me.

I agree that it was over-rated (same with 'Shaun of The Dead') But, it was kinda-funny. It's over-styled, which I liked and hated at the same time. But, I love the cast, and the over-the-top graphic violence, of course.

Wow. This is the exact opposite with me. I pay a lot of attention to critics, because I agree with them a lot of the time. They know their films, especially (most of the time) when it comes to 'Best Pictures'.

I generally pick 5 or so critics that I find myself agreeing with a lot and then follow their advice on what to see and what to skip.

Avatar and Salt. Angelina Jolie is just horrible imo and avatar was a bit boring. Then again I went into that movie expecting something else so that is partially my fault.

Titanic sucked, it was just visually good at the time. The only thing you saw was 2 people making out and one dying on a sinking ship. Oh and the true story stuff of course... So true.

there's some older movies that i wasn't that impressed with given how critically acclaimed they are/were. for example, citizen kane, the godfather, 2001, the deer hunter, blade runner.. i don't know.. maybe they just don't hold up over time. maybe they were revolutionary when they came out but have lost that spark over time as similar movies have been made.

It was charming, but boring to it's core. The visuals and the story were somewhat amusing, though. I'd also have to put 'Up' in there. It wasn't sad/charming like everyone said it was. Just some average-family flick.

I like it when they dub the dialogue over rephrasing it any day. But, the film was pretty pervasive and vulgar, so I can see why.

I actually loved this film. The acting was superb( Especially at the end by Andrew Garfield). The story was compelling. It was entertaining, funny,(sexy?) and just a great-experience overall. I'd put it up there with Inception.

Die Welle - When movies have a political message that is so simplistic and superficial as this German remake of The Wave (which wasn't very good either), I'm just gonna facepalm throughout the whole movie. Horrible movie.

No Country For Old Men - The set-up was good, and Bardem's performance was simply awesome, but in the end, I felt that the philosophical background of the movie couldn't make up for its lack of direction.

Volver - Another pointless movie by Almodóvar with a plot that you'd be more likely to expect in a soap series. Next.

Hitler: The Rise of Evil - See 'Die Welle'. Why is it that every time that a movie tries to cover fascism or national-socialism as a central topic, it loses itself in a predictable, unchallenging thought process that is easily digestable but hardly satisfying? Terrible movie.

Yep, that's about it for now.

Due to the suspense of the captivating-story telling as the movie unfolded, I saw no "lack of direction".

  • The Departed: Ugh. This film had outstanding-acting, but fell-flat on it's face at the end.
  • Donnie Darko: Not anything what I expected, at all. Bad-acting, cheesy-lines, weird-as-hell storyline. What did they see in this?

What about Departed's ending didn't you like?

Star Trek was phenomenal, but then again I'm a sci-fi comic geek. Same goes for Avatar.

Never seen Darko or Unstoppable(or Taking of Pelham 123, I seen the original Taking of Pelham One Two Three though)

Jurassic Park Sequel

Pirates of Carribean (any)

Pan's Labyrinth

Englorious Basterds

Darko is one of my favorite movies, but I can see why others may not like it.

There is MUCH food for thought, and every single scene is important.

One of the main issues with the movie, however, is that you really cannot get everything out of the movie by watching the movie alone. You actually have to do some research (on their website) to get the full story and have everything explained. That alone could make people not like it, but I rather enjoyed the whole concept.
