like/unlike facebook? notice

Say you accidentaly like a pic on facebook but then press unlike will the people in the post still get acknowdlement that you liked it?

They will get a notification but nothing will show up. Unless, she (only assuming) was on facebook at the time. In which case, she would see a "so-and-so liked your photo from 2012".
