Nah, it's just you. In fact, Gamespot is going to get worse from here.

All I care about here is the forums and they have declined A LOT over the years...

I also miss being able to post on the game specific boards. It is really dumb that we can't do that anymore....

The forum activity has definitely declined this year, and the forums is what brings me to GameSpot.

As far as gaming news, reviews and shows are concerned I find GS to be very good.

As for the forums, they are getting really quiet and this comes from someone that wasn' t around during GS' s "best" years(2005-2008).

I don't think it's as good as it used to be. But even with the bad changes the new site will have, I will still give it a chance.

Pretty much this. Gamespot in general was at its apex in those years. And then came a site overhaul in either late 2008 or early 2009 that introduced a hell of a lot of glitches and bugs. The sites server also got so god damn slow. It took 30 secs to a minute to pull up post history and 2 to 3 minutes to get to a union when starting off from the home page. The server slowdown was one of the main reasons why I stopped participating in unions...

Mm-hmm and its because of that design is probably why site staff is building a new site now in the first place, at least partly the reason, since the design was so buggy, and likely introduced new bugs like the infamous bonk. Guess 2008 was the start of the apocalypse.

Yeah I agree with you. In what twisted reality is Gamespot actually better? If you ask me this site really took a turn for the worst towards the end of 2011, ugh, all hell broke loose.

I disagree. Now GS is more mature and you can get away without being sent to the gas chamber by the mods for shit. Guess the allies (maturity) set in and GS can be more interesting now (you can have certain sigs that have certain words or bodyparts that would be a no no back then). Also the asking ppl if you could put their public post quotation in your signature was stupid. Just google the quotes from the sig and you will see where they POSTED PUBLICALLY what they said. In spite of all of this, I still don't trust GS and wouldn't call it a "great" forum.

We managed to have more fun when the forums were more active, despite the tougher rules. Whatever the reasons for this decline, they seem to be acknowledging it by moving resources from the forums to main site development.

At first glance you'd expect more lax rules to make people more willing to post here, without as much fear as getting moderated, thus rising traffic, instead it appears to have done the opposite, pretty ironic if you ask me.
