is it illegal to own a hedgehog in washington state?

I wanna get a pet hedgehog (if i ever get the money) but i am wondering if it is illegal to own one in washington state.

It doesn't matter. If they are available and you want to buy one, then go ahead.

I owned a gerbil in California, where they are illegal. It's not like the police are going to search your home to confiscate the animal.

They don't punish people who own illegal exotic pets, they just forbid pet shops from selling them.

No, you only need a license to breed. I've owned three (in Illinois). I know they're illegal in California and Pennsylvania, and a few states that I can't remember.

Best pet ever, by the way. They're so cute and easy to care for. Taking out your hedgie at the end of a long day is a great way to relax.

Some states are more restrictive when it comes to exotic pets, and they just haven't revised the law in a long time to include hedgies.

Hedgehogs are not indiginous to North America. The type sold by breeders and some pet stores aren't even found in the wild, being a combination of the African Four-Toed "Pygmy" Hedgehog and the Long-Ear Hedgehog. This produces a hedgehog of extreme sweetness and adorability.
