Ive always wondered why has buckethead never shown his face, he could be as if not more famous than Slash, yet he rather play his music for those who get past his image. Can you imagine the level of fame one can obtain by replacing slash in such a band?

He replaced Slash when GNR were most popular, yet he never took his mask of neither did he say a word on public. It almost seems like his tryng to prove that what matters is the music, not the artist by naming and covering his albums with pretty bizzarre names/art.

Dont get me wrong, hes my favorite musican ever, his music is beyond amazing, and if my hypothesis is true, his my hero.

Any thoughts OT?

Isn't the whole Buckethead persona an image thing in itself though? Wearing a white plastic mask, a black jumpsuit and a KFC bucket doesn't exactly make you inconspicuous. If he truly didn't want the attention, I'd think he'd dress in a way that wouldn't make him stand out.

Yup. Just how Slipknot has the masks and matching jumpsuits and they claim it's to take away from the image so people focus on the music.

The dude is all about the image...you keep your music from being all about image by keeping your image low key (or hidden, ala Deathspell Omega), not by making up a ridiculous stage outfit that stands out.

Why would Iommi need a replacement? He's been with Sabbath forever.

First off, he did NOT replace Slash when GNR was most popular (mid-late 80s). Second, he would not be as popular as Slash. Him having a stupid gimmick is not what is holding him back.

On the contrary, I think he does it to get more attention. You don't have to cover your face and keep a mysterious stage persona to let people know it's all about the music. With that aside, I must admit he has some pretty good stuff, but then againhis master isPaulGilbert who is just beyond greatness.

He has stated in interviews, through his hand puppet that he uses, that he does wear the mask so that more attention is paid to the music.

I don't know, that's just what he said. I never quite understood it either to be honest. I listen to his stuff and can't stop thinking about the get-up. Either way, if he wore the mask or if he didn't... I'd still enjoy his music thoroughly

The 'gimmick' obviously doesnt work. Most people that listens to 'comercial' music would never give his material a chance.

Besides more than figuring, he knows, hes been wearing the mask since he was like 17.

Well when you think about it his album covers have the "dead mouse" on the cover, so when people go see him live they pretty much get what they pictured when listening to his music. Plus he doesn't have it on all the time.

Yeah, that mask has been with him since day one. I have his Secret Recipe DVD that has footage from his shed back when he was a teenager. Let's put it this way... he's been quite awkward for quite sometime :P And no, that wasn't his pinky, I believe it was a pinky slide

Which is good, awful band. Buckethead's music may be technically amazing but its not nice to listen to. There's guitarists in music that are just as talented that can make a song sound good as well. Unfortunately Bucketheads talent doesn't apply much to songwriting ability most of the time.

Again, you lack the ability to back yourself up. This does not say anything new. You've already stated your dislike for the band, no need to say it again in different words.

He does it so that his face remains anonymous, his name is known but not his face. His music is freaking fantastic though, there are better but he can perfectly mix melody, face shredding speed and feeling better than anyone else IMO

As a person who rarely listens to him I'm still happy about the Power Rangers theme he was a part of. For the movie that is as he didn't create the theme.

That cannot be real. That is the longest pinky in history.

He's a very prolific guitarist - much respect.
