I personally prefer Inspection, very well thought out movie with a very unique plot. Avatar had a typical story line but the action and graphics kept you hooked.
Which you prefer?

I haven't decided yet if Inception was clever good, or if it was hur-hur-i'm-so-clever-hur-hur bad. Either way, it's better than Avatar.
I was more emotionally invested in Avatar's characters, and it did have some fantastic scenes, visuals, andaction. However, Inception was something I 've never seen before in any capacity, while Avatar was a culmination of familar elements. Inception is the better movie, although Avatar had better action in it's finale compared to Inception's finale. but the hallway scene in Inception is one of the best of all time. Action doesn't matter when story or character development isn't invovled, and Inception had those while Avatar didn't.
So, Inception. Plus, I love JGL and Ellen Page. The only actor/actress I liked in Avatar was Zoe Saldana.
I've got to go with the Avatar film. Even though it got almost universally bad reviews, I felt like it was a good attempt by Shyamalan at an action/adventure. The characters were fun and very well casted (the kid who played Aand was perfect, Dev Pastel made a convincing baddie, and Sokka was good comic relief, and Katara was a perfect counterpart to Aang), and the dialogue was hilarious. The CG was exceptional, especially with the added 3-D. However, I did feel like changes to the original story did bring it down a little, but overall it was a great film, and not just for children. I have a feeling that after the initial bad reviews, the bandwagon effect took over and pressured others into saying it was a bad film. If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend watching it immediately. I can't wait for the sequels that should be coming shortly.

I thought we were discussing James Cameron's Avatar, not The Last Airbender.
Either way, Inception is far better than both.

I recognized one Cobb's teammate. I know Yusuf, the chemist guy that makes the sleep potions. That guy was in Avatar!
I was better able to connect to the story of Avatar (it is familiar after all) so it just wins by a little.
I feel both films are overrated (well, Inception will be), but are none the less good
Inception focused on too many side stories to truly connect with me plot wise.
