Your mother informs you that an elite, prestigious private school has recognized your intelligence and has offered you a spot there. The school contains a large swimming pool, a golf course, a roller coaster, and some of the most famous intellectuals serving as professors. The public school is more simple, with some good people and dedicated teachers. Which would you choose?

I went to private school from Kindergarten through seventh grade and while my parents spent nearly $200K on my education, I dont think it was worth it. I went to a top public school for high school. I go to a private university though. It depends entirely on what private school and what the public school option would be. In retrospect, my brother's gone to private school his entire life and it suits his style more than mine. It's not for everyone.

Private school is obviously a better choice. You get better food, better education, and better sports program.

I would most definitely choose public. Even if they have horrible students, the information is nationally regulated.

I'll disagree with every one of those. Obviously it varies by school, but in regards to public school sports, many have nationally recognized programs including the high school I went to for basketball and tennis.

Ok, I rephrase that. Public school has better food and better education.

I attended a private school kindergarten through 8th grade, and then went to a public high school. The education was pretty much the same, I didn't see any difference. Public school was a much better experience for me. There is much more diversity in public school, different people from different backgrounds. As far as cirriculum, you're inevitably going to forget all the crap you learned- so I think that the social skills you develop in public school is 10x more useful than the supposed "advanced education" of a private school.

I got all my education at a very prestigious private school, with a large swimming pool; but the golf course was outside the school and it had and has the most famous intellectals sering as professors.

not even a doubt in my mind that i would choose the public school. my friend goes to a nice private school in my area, he really likes it, he said the classes are small, like he said there are a total of 50 seniors in his school. idk that just doesn't really appeal to me.

Publice school definitely. Private School kids are always preppy ****. I'm in my final year at a Public high school, with a Private high school right next door; Last year only two kids from the privateschool received an OP 1 (highest rating possible where I am) and one student from my school got that, considering we're paying about $6000 a year less for our education that is pretty damn good.

Lots of rivalry between our two schools, we pwn them hardcore when it comes to sports, we came 4th in the state in rugby union (I played 2nd rower 8)) whereas they didn't even make it into the state series for example.

Well it would obviously depend on who goes where, where friends are and where the shcool are located. But assuming it's just a day school, and friends, location and other students remain constant, then obviously I'd pick the private one. However I went to a public a public school and I'm glad I went there rather than the private school in my town

I'd choose anytime. The environment of a boarding high school is safe, secure and supportive. Students are not free to wander off and mix with the wrong crowd. There are plenty of wholesome activities within the school and lots of things for the students to do. We help teens get back on track - http://www.militaryschools411.com/

Eh, public. I went to private school because my neighberhood was located in a bad town. Even though I was in private, everyone was like zombies. Didn't like it to much.

Public because it is free. Until they do something really stupid like stop using red-ink pens or cancel dodgeball, then I switch over to a private school that isn't a bunch of ninnies.

Public school. I went to a private one for grades Pre-8 and while I made some friends there, I much prefer public school. Especially since it was a religous school they left out a lot of stuff when teaching things like science and history. I had to learn all that stuff on my own.
