lipids, proteins, and nucleotides all are naturally occuring. lipids formed tiny spheres, which were like primitive cell membranes. naturally replicating nucleotides became polynucleotides, which were encased in lipid microspheres. these were the first primitive cells. protocells if you willI am a very strong believer and if you want to question my beliefs go right ahead i will do my best to back them up. simply out of curiosity where do atheists belive we came from. if you say evolution, where did the apes come from?tgh93_29
I believe that afterlives are not possible. After all, it makes no sense. Why should we, of all places, enter this one place protected by some supposed Golden Gate? Whoever came up with the idea of Golden Gates? It is all too arbitrary to make sense.
I'm an agnostic, I don't think science provides an answer on where we come from, but that doesn't really make the bible any more likely. That said, I don't care if you're Christian so long as you don't feel the urge to say "You're going to hell!" every time you meet an atheist on the forums.darkmoney52any christian who does that should rethink their entire outlook on life

I believe that afterlives are not possible. After all, it makes no sense. Why should we, of all places, enter this one place protected by some supposed Golden Gate? Whoever came up with the idea of Golden Gates? It is all too arbitrary to make sense.
we werent meant to understand. do you know whereyou came from if not godI am the result of millions of years of natural selection, and the basis of this concept is that all organisms spend the vast of majority of their energy for reproduction and self-sustainment.
A much steadier path to follow, whereas everything makes sense. There is evolution in theory as well, only those that cannot be proven wrong will live on to the next day. Eventually, a much more logical theory will be able to disprove the Bible.
Aye, someone on here trying to start an age old religion topic...
Guess what mac,
because you're challenging people to post their "evidence" first.
If you start a topic like this, at least give it a little bit more of a push for discussion.
But since I've seen these before, and they always end the same way.
I believe in mutation and evolution, and that when whatever happened those 300 billion years ago happened (not 6000 as Creationism wants us to believe), triggered a mutation in single celled bacteria/organisms. This matured over millions of years (not a few days). Then evolution took its first steps.
As for debunking your rebuttal of "Where did Apes come from?", I'd like you to answer this...
"If Adam and Eve were the only humans on Earth, and they only had two sons...Cain and Abel. Well Cain killed Abel. How did the gene pool get so diverse from just those 3? Is there something not written in the "Good book" that explains all?
Another one, which stumps most...
One of your most deadly sins is "Adultery". Coveting another man's woman, or unsanctimonious love. It's a sin right?
Well then, ever hear the story of the 5 year old who asked this question at Catholic school...
Boy: "So Jesus' dad was God, and Jesus' mum was Mary. Right. So God and Mary were married?"
Nun: "No, Mary was married to Joseph".
Kinda throws a spanner in the works, when the "Omnipotent" was someone who commited one of the sins. Actually, God takes many liberties with Sin. After all, isn't it God's will when floods, lightning etc. affect Earth?
Those "acts of God" as far as I can remember, usually result in some casualties. Kinda hypocritical don't you think, to say "Don't sin, or you are not welcome in heaven", and yet the alleged God you worship is perhaps one of the worst when it comes to committing sin.
Tell me, does that sound like something to be worshipped? A hypocrite.
Meh, others have more to add, but I'm tired of these threads since they are a dime a dozen, and ALL creationists can only use "Faith" as their argument for "Evidence" of God. Makes the debate go knowhere anyway.
You know what my beliefs are? That Gamespot and Religion should should be like church and state, SEPERATE!
Can we move on to another subject now?

if you believe the "stew of organic molecules" is our origin, where do you believe they came from. where did what created them come fromI'll admit I'm kinda ignorant about this(It's been a loooong time since I read the bible) but I don't think it ever said that God was outside of time I thought it just said that he was alpha and omega. Being first doesn't mean he was always there it just means he was first. Which gives me a headache cause if he was first then who made him, unless he exists outside of time in which case who outside of time created him....my head hurts. Oll well I tried to be deep.

what I gave is pretty much the reason, namely that you can't solely trust statements from sources that may have been influenced by who you are wondering about.
okay. well, we still have over a dozen other historians who mention jesus, and paul mentions a creed which mentions him in 1 Corinthians 15, which was written 2-5 years after the life of jesus. Please Log In to post.
