I want to invest in stock but how do I? Like I know some stuff about stocks but do you just invest straight into the company or is there a certain organization that takes and invests the money for you? Oh and does anyone else here have any investments or suggestions?

Today is a bad day for you then. See a stock broker or some financial agency.

Don't go to GS for financial advice... See a stock broker, or someone qualified...

[QUOTE="freakyzeeky1986"] Don't go to GS for financial advice... See a stock broker, or someone qualified...

The last time I took financial advice from GS, I lost all my money to Enron. :(

Yea, no kidding about that. The stock market closed around 400 in the red today. It was horrible watching that and hearing all the people on the floor booing because there was possibly a glitch.

Anyway, GS really isn't the place to ask. I leave all that up to my parents. They have about $400,000 plus some options in IBM that my father takes care of. I have my own stock in IBM that my dad takes care of, but mine is worth around 80 grand, but a little less after today.

What comp said. If you want to do small trades yoruself set up a brokerage accoutn on a site like Etrade. I first suggest you do some severe research on the market and trading in general. you can do that at sites like www.bankrate.com  www.money.com www.fool.com (this is the Motely fool site it used to be free not sure anymore) There are a few others but go to Barnes and Nobles or any book store on a weekend and sit down and read through some of the books in the investment section. I reccomend investing for Dummies if you are truly new to this. Seriously do yrou research before investing in any company. If you are workign I recommend you invest in your jobs 401k or sep plan first then open a roth IRA (which you can do at sites like Etrade) and max it out prior to doign stuff on your own. When in doubt go with a full time broker or acutally a financial advisor that works off fees is best. Good luck.

Stock Broker for information. Doesnt hurt to talk to them about it. You CAN do it yourself but you gotta know what your doin before just diving right on in. After you get all your research done then choose whats best for you. I personally would stick with the stock broker though.
