An American starting his abroad travels.
What should I do in London?
Is it true they are actually more strict about partying and laws and stuff in the UK?
How’s stuff with Covid?

oooh have fun.
I went there about 14 years ago, it is a neat place. Good public transportation. I think the "tube" has a pass called Oyster Card (I think?) that is good if you're going to be there for a while.
Oxford is cool for a day or two trip, too.
Pub food is good, just do your research because a lot of pubs are just corporate with the same beer and the same reheated food, good to get the genuine article with some homemade grub and some good English ale.
And walk everywhere! Wear comfortable shoes.
The British Museum is one big one that you shouldn't miss. I can't recommend too many places because I spent most of my time there. And there is a nice open air restaurant at the top of it too.
As a Brit I can recommend:
Madam Tussauds
Tower of London
Buckingham Palace - Yes, part of the palace is open to the Public between July - August and September and October.
London Eye
Imperial War Museum
The British Museum
The Jewel Tower - One of the few remaining buildings from the original Medieval Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament)
Westminster Abbey
Westminster Hall
St Paul's Cathedral

Our laws aren't particularly strict. The legal drinking age is 18 in the UK. We don't have any "Jay walking" laws here, you can cross the road anywhere.
British Police officers in London (and the UK generally) are very friendly and will offer directions if you get stuck.

There are no Covid restrictions in the UK at present. No requirements to wear a mask or anything like that.
Enjoy! I can't wait to re-visit.
As others have said, have Fish+Chips. It's far superior to what we have in the States. Think of the difference in NY pizza and pizza elsewhere in the US.
@mrbojangles25: Thanks! Sounds like you had a good time lol. My sister told me the subway was called the tube lol
@Bond007uk: thank you this is all so helpful.
Also at first I thought the fish n chips thing was a joke, but it sounds like something I definitely want to try lol
Really do not understand tourism to the UK. London is one giant shit hole, but go to Regent Street anyway. There are tons of theatres to see, loads of museums and walking around Westminster is nice.
Next time go to Cornwall for a holiday. The South West/East are the best places to go, trust me, I live here.
