you need practice, that's all. lips are very delicate organs, they are very sensitive, and oh so alive when you wield them like the finest artist's brush. yet they can sustain a certain amount of sensory brutality as well, when you are no longer a novice and have become well acquainted with the properties of lips.

so just practice. err on the soft side at first, the light touch that is like magic to your partner, and let your lips and your tongue explore with caution, paying attention to changes in pressure and friction and heat and electric tension. if it feels good to you, it will feel good to your partner.

think of your lips as a tool, not so much to acquire pleasure, but to dispense it. that is the key.

Move on with your life and forget about it. She probably said it to get in your head and get on your nerves. Don't let her and what she said affect any other future relationships you involve yourself in.
