I'm normally wanting 6-7, but I'm wondering what is needed. So, how long do you sleep?
How long can you function properly, and is caffeine a benefactor?

Lately it seems I cant manage on anything but over 8 hours. Its like anywhere from 1-5 hours I can, then 5-7 is no good and 8+ is perfect. I need to get out of this sleeping schedule.
Geez. 1-5? No way for me. If I do that, I'm seriously like a zombie walking around grunting at people.Lately it seems I cant manage on anything but over 8 hours. Its like anywhere from 1-5 hours I can, then 5-7 is no good and 8+ is perfect. I need to get out of this sleeping schedule.

Around 4-6 hours I can manage fine. I always say I'm going to get a good night sleep like 10 hours but I find it hard to get to bed that early.
I can manage on 3-4 but not for more than one day in a row. To function normaly I need 6-7 at least.

[QUOTE="Gaming-Planet"]...How? I wish I could have. Well I'm a student and I have no place to go but school. I don't know how I slept full whole 16 hours, but I guess it was the lack of sleep the days before.I slept 16 hours today.

To the people saying they need 8+ hours, that's not healthy. 8 hours isn't even the right amount of sleep. At 8 hours I've overslept and wake up with a headache.
A normal night for me is getting to bed about 2 am and waking up by 8 for work at 9. But to get to bed by 4 or 5 am is not out of the ordinary and I function perfectly fine and I still go on till 1 or 2 am that night. Right now for instance its almost 2 am and I feel like I could stay awake till 5 no problem after waking up at 9 this morning(it was a weekend).
I guess I should also ask in the topic if caffeine plays a major role too...3eyedrazorbackTo me caffeine if anything brings sleep

How is it not healthy? It depends on your age and condition. Teens ideally need 10, adults need 8. My body can happily sleep for 10 hours and I then feel very alert and recharged. If my alarm has to get me up during the deep sleep period i.e. 4-7/8 hours I feel like crap for a good few hours. I'd much rather oversleep than undersleep.
I have messed up sleep paterns. I can function fine for about 2 days without any sleep as long as I'm doing something (I'll fall asleep as soon as I get comfortable though). Conversly, I can easily sleep 13 hours and not feel anymore rested than I did from sleeping for 5 hours. On average I probably get around 6-7 hours sleep.
if it's up to me, I would definitely go with 8+ hours a day.
But I can't help it, I really get depressed if I sleep early.
