I want to do this but I can't figure out how, my dreams don't follow a specific pattern so I never see anything that would seem familier from the real world or anything. How do some of you achieve lucid dreaming?

No, I don't really think that would create the same experience, I want to mess with the world. And admit it, you just want to have dream sex amirite?

I've done it once a few years ago by luck, but I know the trick. Do something simple and stupid for like a week straight. Like, every time you stand up from a sitting position, try to levitate. Obviously, if you levitate, its a dream. If you condition yourself to think "DO THIS" when something happens, if you get this in the dream you are golden.
I also read to keep a dream journal and wake up to an alarm clock, blah blah, too much effort! So I never went through with any of it. Next summer, I'm going to go for it though.
[QUOTE="Storm_Marine"]No, I don't really think that would create the same experience, Almost, almost. I want to mess with the world. Even after you're lucid, that's easier said than done. And admit it, you just want to have dream sex amirite?

Even flying is difficult due to the change in perspective that your mind can't relate to easily. Manipulating the world itself is nigh impossible, in my experience.
On the other hand, your expectations are what decides things in dreams.
And admit it, you just want to have dream sex amirite?

This is one of my goals in life. I've had plenty of sex dreams but I've never been lucid during them.

[QUOTE="ghoklebutter"]You can't really induce one, AFAIK.Storm_Marine
Depends what you mean by induce.
Elaborate.Like i said, find some websites. Experiment around. There are countless techniques. (WILDs, MILDs, etc)

Elaborate.Well there are methods of having lucid dreams when you'd otherwise not.

I.............................don't think it's the same. Though I'm not saying this from experience.
Lucid dreaming takes a lot of practice to get good at but it's worth it!
The first thing to do is to increase your dream recall. You can do this simply by thinking/reading about lucid dreaming or anything related to it. If it's in your head you will remember your dreams better. The best thing you can do though is to keep a dream journal. This is pretty big when it comes to lucid dreaming. Before my dream journal I barely remembered any dreams but after starting one I remember 3-5 dreams a night. Write down your dreams right when you wake up. This is probably one of the most important things you can do when it comes to lucid dreaming
Reality checks can also help a lot. Basically a reality check is when you do something like looking at a clock, pinching your nose, thinking about what you were just doing etc, to see if your dreaming. If you do these enough in real life you will eventually dream of doing a reality check and you will realize you are dreaming.
When you do realize you are dreaming you have to remember to stay calm and not get too excited or you will wake up. There is also a chance that you will forget you are dreaming and go back to a normal dream. Rubbing your hands, grabbing something, spinning, etc, all help you stay in your lucid dream state. Also doing reality checks constantly help quite a bit.
Here is a really good site for techniques that help with lucid dreaming
ld4all.com
PM me if you want more details, there is so much to it that it's pretty hard to explain in one post.
I have been lucid dreaming off and on for a long time so I know a decent amount about it
[QUOTE="Storm_Marine"][QUOTE="KiIIyou"]Put some rocks in you mouth before you fall asleep normllly.KiIIyou
No, don't.
Safty safe rocks I meant. Yeah, they're fine. Pretty much guaranteed lucid dream as well, 100%Lucid dreaming takes a lot of practice to get good at but it's worth it!

Those are more along of the lines of supplementary exercises than actual techniques.
You can practice it. I was really good at it and did it often in High School. I still do pretty regularly. What worked for me was to keep thinking, "I'm Going to Sleep" that way when I started dreaming I'd know it was a dream. Seems kind of silly, but it worked for me. The hardest part is staying asleep, at the beginning if I concentrated too hard on the creation or manipulation of an aspect of my dream I'd wake up. And I don't know why but every time I'd try to start flying on my dreams it would make my legs really tired. It does have some draw backs though, I frequently do have sleep paralysis, where my mind wakes up and I'm conscious of everything around me, but my body won't move. It can be pretty scary as you hear and see things that are part of your dreams, but you're actually looking at your room and hearing the ambient sounds of your house. I usually think there is a prowler in my house, but I have no way of waking up and taking a look around. It happens most often when I am on an overnight trip and staying in a Hotel or a place I'm not familiar with. I've stayed overnight in Indianapolis a few years ago for BOA championships, went to sleep in the hotel room, and woke up a few hours later in the hallway three floors above where I was staying. It's the only time I've ever sleepwalked.Nuck81
I have sleep paralysis all the time too because of lucid dreaming :( it suck but I got used to it after a while and it doesn't bother me now

Well yeah of course, it's hard to type all that out though :P
LSDchaoscougar1You definitely aren't going sleep any time soon after dosing...although it may as well be a lucid dream. ;)
the post that mentioned ld4all.com is the best one. The thing is, everyone's mind works differently so we can only guide you to things that have been known to give results. Nothing is guaranteed and the best thing you can do is experiment. Try a method for a month and if it doesn't bring you results, try something else. Eventually you'll come across something that works for you.
The key is INTENT. You have to cultivate an unbending intent to lucid dream and do everything you can to act on that intent and make it stronger. Your mind takes care of the rest.
I had heard sleep paralysis could happen as a. Result of lucid dreaming, and since it was brought up here: is it bad enough to make you regret being able to be conscious of your dreams? Being paralyzed every morning really doesn't sound fun :PFundai
First, I don't think it's a common side effect. Second SP can be somewhat fun surprisingly.

It's scary as fuk the first few times. Usually people see a "shadowy figure" while they are paralyzed. But once you realize once happening and learn techniques to make it end quicker it's not so bad. Nothing worse than a nightmare
