Do you pay for it? If so, what is your way of getting it? If not, how do you access it?

Also, if you don't pay for it are you the type to think that celebrites have enough money already so you don't feed them more?

I know a lot of people who think that.

Anyway, onto my opinion.

I used to download it through P2P sites because I simply couldn't afford to buy all the music I wanted to. Also, there are some artists I just don't want to support but I still find that I like a few songs by them. So I got them.

These days though, since March 2010, I have been faithfully paying for my music, mostly through iTunes and amazon.com (best site ever). I promised myself that I would pay for music and support the artists that put hard work into it because music makes me feel alive and I at least owe them that. A lot of people around me don't agree or feel the way I do, but I guess that's OK. Trust me, if you don't pay for music, I'm not really gonna judge you. Been there done that. I also buy CDs from time to time by artists I really enjoy.

I just wanted to know your opinions on the matter and how you access music, whether it's buying CDs, downloading mp3s (legally or otherwise) or subscribing to some music service.

Fire away. Also, take the poll.

Ditto.

I think it's interesting that pirating has become mainstream enough to be more popular than buying retail.
You don't steal anyting from anyone, and, let's face it - judging by all the duplicate torrents on sites say the pirate bay, somebodyfed somebody a crapload of cash.

I torrent all the time, i don't have economics, and most of the music this year has been complete and utter garbage.

I did buy two CD's this year, Vampire Weekend- Contra, and NAS & Damian Marley - Distant relatives. I would never buy from itunes, since it feels JUST LIKE torrenting, the only difference being that you lose money. I want a smaller CD collection (Starting out, bought 4 CDs last year, my first ones EVER.)

I just like holding something physical in my hand, it's worth going downtown to the shop.

▲ I record the record. I play it on my stereo, record it with my mic and then burn it to a CD. This way I can distribute it to all my friends without being a pirate. ▲

P2P and torrents. I would probably buy some CDs once I can find some goddamn shops that stock albums from the rather obsure bands that I listen to.

I have to... I still think that breaks the copyright... Either way it's easier to torrent and you get better quality...

Itunes or Amazon. Whichever is cheaper. I also buy actual CDs if they are special editions or some of my true favorite artists.

Multiple. Mostly CD's since I love albums, download for artist where I only like one or two songs, and I listen to the radio, mainly internet radio and the satelite radio on my TV.

It's either FLAC or nothing, MP3 isn't better than CD's in quality. The only thing that is better than FLAC is LP;

Try listening to a newly recorded limited LP with some top of the line £250 Sennheister headphones, once you get in there you can't get out. :D

Typically I start out by listening to it on the artists myspace or youtube, and if I still like it after listening to it several times I download it from itunes or amazon.

I pay for all of my music. Well, the one exception would be when Amazon gives out classical CDs for free I usually download those.

I do most of my purchasing through iTunes and CDs. Most of my CD purchases towards things that aren't on iTunes like anime and video game soundtracks. (I know, it's incredible that I actually pay for them, isn't it? >_>)

I buy CDs when possible, and download via Itunes otherwise.
