Have you tried smoking?

I tried smoking a pipe (*tobacco* pipe) a couple times. It was ok, but I didn't continue doing it b/c I didn't want to die of lung cancer. Elraptor

I knew someone who quit smoking, and after three days of being clean, he got ran over by a cigarette truck. :(

When you smoke a hookah, or a pipe, you don't inhale the tobacco smoke...it's still smoking, but it's really not nearly as harmful as smoking cigarettes. Also, most pipe tobaccos smell great (which is why I smoke them), whereas cigarettes smell terrible.CheddarLimbo

Actually hookah can be more harmful. I occasionally smoke a certain herb.

Yep, I started smoking because it got me high. I still smoke, because I got addicted.

You know how it works. You start smoking because it feels REALLY good. But you only smoke something like 1 cigarette a week. And you think you're in control because you only smoke one cig a week. So everything's going well. Then one day you buy a pack of smokes. And by the end of the day you reach for your smokes only to find out that they're all gone. And you're like, "WTH? Did I smoke a whole ****ing pack of cigarettes in one day?"

It's the same way with a lot of things. For example, I was going to college and decided to take a break. So I took a semester off. Then it was time to go back to school and I thought "oh, okay. I'll take one more semester off." And then one day you realize "Jesus Christ. How many YEARS have I wasted taking a break?"

Or like how when you go out drinking. You're not very popular and you don't really have time to talk to people much. So one night, people invite you out to go drinking with them. And you want to say no, because it's already late as hell, and you have to be at work early tomorrow. But you say yeah because you don't want to be antisocial. So you decide to go hang out with them to show them that you don't dislike them. But you make a compromise. You say "okay, I will go hang out with them, but I can't stay long. I'll hang out with them for half an hour, have only one beer, then I am going home." Then 3 hours later, you look at the clock and realize that you have to be at work in three hours. You also realize that you've had way more than one beer, and you find yourself in a world of ****.

Getting addicted to tobacco is a lot like that.
