It's 'Clockwork', not 'Clocktower'.

Stanley Kubrick is also one of my favourites which also include:

  • Alfred Hitchcock
  • Tim Burton
  • The Coen Bros.
  • Quentin Tarantino

....and many others. I can't really say ONE favourite.

Have you considered that not all of us watch anime? *sigh* But yes, he deserves a mentioning. He's produced many good movies like Princess Monoke, Spirited Away, and Ponyo. Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies of all time regardless of genre or decade.

Steven Spielberg.

He more or less invented modern Hollywood film. And he has done everything from Hollywood blockbusters to emotional master pieces like Schindler's List

Really wish he would get back into directing more movies.:(

I will have you know that Nausicca is his best, followed by Spirited Away. Furthermore, five minutes into Mononoke, you get hit with the movie's message like a large trout to the face. This continues throughout the movie, happening literally every five minutes or so.

While I don't like throwing around names here, and there are the obvious choices, but realistically all of them have different strengths and weaknesses. Of course, in reference to a director with my personal favourite in style and flair, David Lynch gets my vote.
