The wife and i recently at a local restraunt was asked to leave because the locals know we are on food stamps and goverment welfare .. The wife and myshelf have worked since we were 15yrs..Recently{10 months ago] we were involved in a car crash a Army recruiter plowed into out sitting car at a stop sign. He was drunk .. Again we both cant work now and on goverment assistance and in the middle of a lawsuit..The restraunt asked us to leave because we should be working and not to be welfare scabs .. We had cash to pay the bill.We said we wouldnt leave the called the cops and they told us to leave and not cause a scene.The owners brother was the cop... We cant belive we should be treated in this way.. When the police arrived we were detained in the back of his cop car for 45 mins.. While they said they were checking into things.. At one point we allmost were handcuffed couldnt belive it..Oh well we have been getting letters in our mailbox to leave..I dont think we should have had to leave..Any advice what to do...Everyone have a good New Year..

IF you have the means to pay someone for a service, you should be given that service. Sounds like a sticky situation. I say I dont like govt assistance because of the freeloaders living on welfare and I end up paying boatloads of money to taxes to pay for them to sit and get high all day. Anyway,that is really unfortuante and I would have been pissed..and embarassed. But I hope you get better. Just get a job when you can, when you are able.

This is pretty much my feeling on the subject. And I know I'm only hearing your (TC) side of the story, but it sounds pretty legit if true. That's not really your fault, and there's no reason for them to deny you service like that. If you don't file a lawsuit against them, at the very least send letters to the local papers. Get your story out there so that this doesn't happen again. Good luck with everything.

I have to agree with the others in that you should send the story to the local newspaper either in letter or editorial form and inform people of the way you were treated. Even if it causes the restaurant to lose only a few customers it will be worth it.

If i were reading this i wouldnt belive it either but it did happen to us.. We have had no problems in the last couple of weeks now so we are not going to stir up problems..This area is very clicky and tight tight groups of family..So the wife and i are not going to upset the balance..

drop it or else...what are they gonna do? do you live in Russia under Stalin's rule? heh. If you are having some legal issues..and it seems you are.. there are people you can talk to. Lawyers will at least point you in the right direction. And knowing the US you might be able to get a lawyer consult free considering your monetary status.

The wife is on medication from the crash . She has to go to the restroom frequently and they wouldnt let her out to go. Told the both of us to be quite or else they would run us in..And if we didnt calm down they would handcuff us.
That's horrible-everyone doing this to you should feel ashamed. There's no reason for you to leave, so don't, unless you feel uncomfortable living there. I hope you have a happy new year, and hopefully things will get better for you.

This does seem hard to believe, but after thinking about it, I don't see any reason for a lie like this, so I do believe you now buddy. Where do you live, if you don't mind me asking (don't have to be specific: country, state, city, etc.)?
I would just explain to them that I am there to eat. Poor people need to eat too, and I have all the money to pay for the meal, and I am doing nothing wrong to offset the restaurant. Then warn (Not threaten), them that if they throw us out I will sue them for discrimination. Its a free world, as long as you meet the dress code and dontdo anything to the restaurant there is no reason to be forced to leave.

Something strange is going on here. How do these people know about your private affairs and your money problems? What they have done is a crime, called discrimination. You may well have yourself a second lawsuit thanks to this. Make sure you are being smart and documenting EVERYTHING that is happening to you. All phone calls (time,date, caller info) comments made, any issues with the police.... Do not go after the cops for what happened. It is very hard to prove any wrongdoings by the police, and this really is not your issue anyway.They can twist this into a charge against you for filing a flase report if you cannot back up your claims. This will make your life hell. I would contact an Attorney ASAP, and speak to as little townfolk about this issue as possible.

We dont go out much we stay at home and keep to our own..The police cars goes up and down our street a couple times a day. And slow by our house like they are looking for somthing.. A couple of times when they went by at night they used there spotlights we called and complained followed up with excuses. And then to top it all off all of our neighbors are mad at my wife and me for calling and and complaining to the police about the patrols in the neighborhood.They like the extra patrols i guess makes them feel more safe. I tried to talk to my neighbors but as i said before very tight and clicky and family most of them..Some of theese family members i speak of are police and politcally connected in local politics.. Enough of my small problems. Its not that i havent tried to get along but i should maybee give in a be quiten about all of this ..

Wife just got back from the corner store to get a six pack of bud and a pizza we ordered they have a pizza take out place that sells killer pizza. Wondered why it took her so long the police pulled her over and did a quick field soberty check.. Said they had a cell phone complaint of wreckless driver matching wifes car.. She doesnt even drink. She cant drink because of the medications she on from the accident i spoke of before. They let her go and said have a good and safe night. My wife is so mad she is shaking right now which will be followed up by crying all night.. I dont want to tell her of the prank phone calls i got wile she was gone to pick up the pizza..

See, this just goes to show the problems that public ignorance about welfare can cause.
It's amazing how the world works, someone hurts you and now you're the people they mock. You don't deserve to be tortured by the people who caused you these troubles. Get the word out and try to go to the state officals or something.

I don't get it. Why do they care that you're on welfare? You had the money to pay for your meal, so what's the big deal? If I were you I would just try to forget about it, and think about moving if things like that keep happening.
The police also told her since the beer wasnt in a paper bag she had what they considered open container but none of the beer botles were opened so they let her go with a warning . The party store allways sells it to us and everyone else not in a sack. I know the owner of the store and he legaly doesnt have to sack it so he doesnt it saves him money not having to buy those sacks..Ant blame owner . So whats up with this its more hasling on my part. What to do Iam affaid to leave the house with out somthing hapening to me ..Like palnting some illegal stuff in my truck..Can get real nasty as the phone calls we get as pranks tell us..
