I also made a metal band thread............. anyways so people can vent their fave thrash,heavy,and just plain metal.

Troll, Emperor, Darkthrone, Cattle Decapitation (If you count grindcore),

Dissection, Impaled Nazerene, Nortt, Thy light

Kruiz, Bathory, Vio-lence, The Chasm, Megadeth etc...I have over 400 bands on my ipod I can't even remember 10 lol

Edit: I also love Impellitteri, X-Caliber, Jason Becker.

Nu-metal is a fusion genre of grunge (and arguably alternative hardcore) with metal. Nu-metal itself is not an original branch of metal. MOST people disregard it all together, though there are a few bands that are more metal than nu...

Machine Head, Mastodon, Megadeth, Meshuggah, Metallica, Morbid Saint, Pantera, Rammstein, Razormaze, Slayer, The Sword, Tool. I expect to get some flak from some users here due to including Job for a Cowboy ("not metal, crap", etc; I suggest listening to Ruination - sounds like Death Metal enough - or don't, I couldn't care less) and Lamb of God/Pantera ("white trash groove metal lolz").Neon-Tiger

Actually, basically take this list and you have many bands I like...I tend to like metal and all genres it encompasses. :P

Acid Bath, Amon Amarth, Anthrax, Children Of Bodom, Dethklok, Gamma Ray, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Megadeth, Metallica, and Pantera.

Those are the ones I thought from the top of my head.

My favorites currently are Between the Buried and Me and Cynic.
