The first. The rest are all CGI bull****, and the plot...well there is no plot
HA! I didn't plan that joke.
The first movie felt more like an actual movie to me but Revelations is my favorite because I thought the extremely long freeway chase scene and the Neo vs Mr. Smith x 100 were very very cool.
The Matrix Revolution's battle between the humans and the sentinels is hard to beat. Also the exceptionally subtle Christian themes is always appreciated.
I enjoyed them all, the first clearly made me think "wow, this shit is cool", and then I really like how people's admiration and devotion to Neo grew. Also, the third movie is severely underrated...most people see it as a bad action movie when to me it had very little to do with action and a lot more to do with philosophy. I think the movie went from computer geekness, to slightly religious, to questioning a lot of beliefs. I find it unfortunate that a lot of people only saw "Hey, look at Neo beating hundreds of dudes and stopping bullets with his hands!". The Matrix is definitely one of my favorite trilogies of all time.
The first one remains the all-time favorite, but the other movies are underrated. The first movie does a very good job at presenting the universe, the plot-line and, in a very artistic way, believing in oneself.
I enjoyed "Revolutions" and "Reloaded", albeit not as grand as the first one, truely epic movies. These movies take a more philosophical approach to the notion of choice and human behaviour. They are very cgi-dependent productions, and I will be the first to admit that some of it is bad and rushed cgi (such as the Agent Smith Brawl scene). The do feel rushed at some points, but the overall plot remains, more or less, the same. Numerous contemporary themes can be questioned using The Matrix-trilogy as source. See the movies on blu-ray first once, think about what you just saw, then see it again with commentary from the philosophy dudes. It is very interesting.
The first film blew me away when I first saw it, it's for sure my favourite, I enjoyed the other two films also, I enjoyed the ps2 game Enter the Matrix also.
i know most people say the first one, but i am going to vote for the third one. I thought the ending was pretty well done in the series. I also liked the characters the most here
I can't believe you forgot about the Animatrix. I like that, really I do only because it discuss on Humanity downfall.
Well anyway, Matrix Revolution was great for it's battles with the Sentinel, Neo vs Agent Smith set the standards for Man of Steel fight with Supes vs Zod, seeing Neo's character evolve, and it ended well for the series.
Also Neo didn't Die!
The original. I wouldn't opt to rewatch any of them in their entirety but I could watch more of the original than any other. Basically, starting at the lobby shoot out I could watch the film to the end. The music in the scene is a little cheesy now but I love the choreography (especially Trinity running on the wall). Neo dodging bullets is still an amazing scene imo, the helicopter shit is crazy, and the final fight with Smith rocks.
Having said that... the Chateau fight leading into the garage fight leading into the freeway chase/shootout leading into the freeway fight. That is too much. That's like the best chunk of action I've ever scene in a film and will probably ever see. There's no 20 minute segment I can pluck out of any film that equals that. Everything around that is mediocre to me, but I can watch that sequence over and over and over again. It is amazing. Just typing about it makes me want to watch it.
