Topic is self explanitory, who do you think makes better music (overall) America or Europe?

For me, its gotta be Europe, while America does have several fantastic bands (Nevermore, Nile, Agalloch, etc.) its also got FAR more crap then Europe, and Europes Death and Black metal is so much better its not even funny:P

I think the poll would be more fair if it was just the U.K vs. The U.S, but even that I think would bend torwards the U.K's favor considering how unstopable the british invasion was, damn those Englishmen and their good music! :x

Europe often has the best of Metal, though America also has its fair share of excellent bands.

But Europe actually has fans that love andmake real Metal music compared to the American scene of so called "Metal"core and hardcore music and anything thats trendy.

But I'm not saying everyone is like that, everyone has their own music taste of course.

I don't doubt that Europe will be better favored here but I myself am leaning towards the US. More of my favorite bands come from the US ie: NIN, Kings of Leon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. While only one band from Europe makes it into my top 5 ie: Radiohead.....PS: Muse is mediocre

Easily American.

Besides metal, which I'd guess I have 50/50 between American and European artists, everything else is pretty much American.

Europe has better Dance/Electronic and Pop music,

America has better country and blues music,

and my favorite rock music comes from Canada.

I said America, but really NORTH America would be the better answer. There's more than one country on this continent, you know...

Arcade Fire have one of the most interactive live performances I've ever been to. Amazing band.

Wintersleep are much better than their best known single, Weighty Ghost. I saw them in Vancouver and they are a wall of sound. If you like loud rock music, see them live.

Weakerthans are one of the most under-rated bands still touring and recording today. Any fan of music would be doing themselves a favor by listening to them, especially if they are Canadian and love music about The Great White North.

If I had to choose one country for music, it would be my home and native land. But I love music from the US, too... some of my favorite bands are out of the states: REM, Smashing Pumpkins, Drive By Truckers... it's really tough to narrow it down to just one country or even one continent.

Agreed on Arcade Fire. Missed them in there. To be fair I don't know any Wintersleep I'll be sure to give them a try. On the recommendation of a friend I downloaded Weakerthans - Reconstruction Site, didn't care for it much. But don't get me wrong, I agree with you. There are plenty of great Canadian acts worth loving.
