first of all if you wanna go by "predications" after the mayan calander ends a new one begins, so why would they make a new one for a destroyed Earth? Secondly any polar shift that mighthappen will take hundreds of years to occur and the affects will be very gradual.
It's utter nonsense, but I am looking forward to the news stories about the people who sold all their possessions and that stuff. I always find those amusing.
I absolutely believe that the Zombie Apocalypse predicted by the Mayans and written in the Holy Bible (1 Corinthians 13:69: "...and Peter said, 'Oh, S***!!! Here come the f***ing zombies!!! Headshots only, people!'") will come to pass.

Well, if you think about it, New Zealand will really be the first to welcome in December 21st.....which on the timezone is more than half a day away from north and south america. Therefore, the mayans = owned :P
Why in the hell do people think it will be the END? It was NEVER predicted (by those who predicted) that it would be the END of the world, as in the planet is going to blow up or something. The prediction is that it will be the begining of a extreme change (lots of natural disasters and mass extinction),. The planet will still be here whether we humans survive or not (will most likely survive, but the population will take a big hit).
The Mayans just said that it was a planet change and the begining of a new world will start. A couple Scientist have said that the Earth surface will shift greatly.
The mayans never said the world was going to end, just that a major cycle of the world was going to end. Afterward a new cycle starts. I say they were pretty accurate since a lot of changes from climate, to political, to social are starting to take place so it really seems we are entering a new cycle and exiting another. Afterall they did say that the end of the cycle would be filled with big problems and chaos.
I believe not but I hope so. That way, I don't have to hear people making prediction how and when the world will end. Nor will I see silly people around me actually take those predictions seriously....
Nah, though I did get more convinced after reading 2012apocalypse.net, even after reading all that though, I still think there's a chance the world won't so much as end, but the population might get cut down, and a new, better, era will open, one filled with peace, joy, and happiness.
I'm not sure if the 8 so far that picked 'A' are either trolling or genuinely believe this. I've read all about the Bac'tuns and all that, that said that this short count is part of a longer count and that there are other predictions a lot further in the future. Like 100's of years future.
