Or set them free?

I can never bring myself to kill an insect in my apt. I always try to scoop them in a tissue or paper towel and plop them outside. What if we were insects in someones home and they decided to squish us? TRY WEARING SOMEONE ELSE'S EXOSKELETON FOR A CHANGE MUDERERS.

We don't get too many insects in England but I'm always willing to kill a bee/wasp/fly, I'll ignore the likes of spiders.

Why would I set them free? If they're stupid enough to wander into my territory they become splats on the bottom of my shoes.

I usually find a fair amount of insects in my apartment. I don't mind spiders, but anything else will usually meet justice at the hands of just about anything within reach.

There are two kinds of insects that live in people's homes where I live-small spiders and some insect which looks like a giant ant.

I am a civilised guy so I always wear my slippers before crushing them.

I usually don't kill insects as long as they're not dangerous. I usually let moths out but i kill mosquitos cos they're annoying. I sometimes put spiders back outside but if i find a white tail spider or a red back spider which i have had to deal with before, i'd normally get the bug spray without any thoughts about it.

Yes. Currently in most of the northeast US there is an invasion of "Stink Bugs". Now that it is spring time, they are all waking up and trying to get outside. If you don't kill them, they just buzz around like B-52's all day crashing in to things and being annoying. For anyone that doesn't know what a stink bug is, consider yourself lucky. Like others, I will leave spiders alone. They just creep me out.

No way man. I always try but I get like the ninja spiders. You slam a shoe on them and when you pick up the shoe there is no spider. Then you're left with a pissed off spider and you have no idea where it is. Sometimes spiders can be funny though. I was playing some WoW at like 3:30 AM and one of those little yellow house spiders came dropping down from the ceiling right in front of my computer screen and just kinda hung there for a while watching. I like to anthropomorphize. :)

Kill them without hesitation, any bug... I see a harmless lady bug. I squish it. Bugs scare me. I am not afraid to admit that, bugs just creep me out, so I remove them from my personal space if they choose to invade it.

Depends. If it's a giant bug such as a spider, then yes I will kill it. However if it's a small and harmless fruit fly, I'll probably shrug my shoulders and let it die on it's own.

I feel horribly guilty when I knowingly kill an insect so I try not to kill them. I'll capture moths and things and swat flies and wasps and bees out of the window with a newspaper or something. The only thing I don't take outside are spiders, because they scare me, if it's a little one I'll just ignore it and if it's a big one I'll leave the room until it goes away and hides.

I tend to leave them, like I just moved a box and there was a huge spider behind it, so I thought that should take care of any flies. I've never had cockroaches or anything, just the odd flying insect like the odd bee, which tends to just fly out again after flying into various windows for half an hour. I've also had a couple of grasshoppers, but they are cool so they stay or go as they please.

I only ever see spiders in my house and they're probably the reason there is a non-existent bug population inside so I just leave them alone.

If I were an insect, I wouldn't try to break into someone's home and make it my own residence. So yes, I kill them. And I expect them to do the same to their intruders.

In Oklahoma, both when it has been raining heavily and when it's super dry and hot, poisonous centipedes that can grow to nearly a foot long try to find shelter under or in people's homes. These are nasty, heavily armored critters with which one must engage in melee combat, for no "bug spray" short of Tabun gas can kill them. You can't just beat them or "squash" them. I beat a big one that had crawled onto a concrete porch about the head with the flat side of a shovel to no avail, with the creature only pausing momentarily before continuing its advance. The best strategy is to chop away at the centipede, cutting it into ever smaller, albeit still alive, pieces. Beware of the "head" and the "tail" segments. The former has a deceptively strong mouth and the latter has stingers that deliver a very painful poison that may require hospitalization for some people.

Here's one of the fellas right here.

centipede

Now, as you ponder the creature before you, I'll make you aware that with all those legs, it has an amazing gripping ability, being able to rap itself around rats, mice, birds, small rabbits, and other small woodland creatures as it delivers a deadly concoction of poisons. It is a superb climber, able to scale a typical indoor wall and even easily walk along a textured drywall cieling.

One time, to my horror, I looked up to see one taking a moment to rest on the cieling above my head. That's the stuff of nightmares right there, by the way. That one was difficult to eliminate, since once I got it down from the cieling, it would not release the shovel. A shovel is my preferred weapon for dealing with this monster. You can use the sharp edges to chop at the creature and use the broad flat side as a shield. Then you can scoop up the remains with your weapon.
