I don't get taught any martial art directly from a sensei, I just mimic what I see others do and practice on my own. I'm going to try and start training in Karate under an old buddy of mine that's an 8th degree black belt and teaches now. I'm also thinking about going to the dojo in the area that teaches Korean Tae Kwon Doe and Hapkido.

I went in Taekwondo when I was younger but quit because I'm a quiter. I ended up failing twice while trying to get the blue belt because I was sick one time and sick another time because I went to burger king before it.

TAEKWONDO is the best martial art. i m not saying that karate is bad. i used to be a black belt in karate, but i became the youngest black belt in our area, and started learning taekwondo too. so my sensei got jealous and took away my black belt and certificate for violating the rules. but when i joined taekwondo, i understood that it is better than karate. karate is power and technique. but taekwondo is power with speed and technique. best martial art!!!! all must learn it!!!!!!!

On the contrary, Tae Kwon Do suffers from showy techniques as well as as many McDojos as karate.  Doing a 540 kick is never going to be effective unless you're hitting a still or lethargic target, and even then there are more effective techniques.

yeah i know that! i use 540 only for demonstration! in fight, i mostly use side kick and khorologi and half turn side kick( i dont know what you call it). i also use flying side kick. in every fight i knock out my opponent with flying side kick in the second round. i have not lost a single fight till date and in every fight, i knock out my opponent!!!

Better knock on wood or train double, because one day you'll be doing that flying kick and get reversed mid air, and on your way down you'll be thinking "damn...." The flying kick, unless perfectly timed and even then, is very risky.

Belts do not matter, ive seen 7th degree black belts beat by random people. I personally think mixed martial arts gives you the best chance. In the Marine corps there is a martial arts program that uses  Taekwondo, Akido, judo, jujistsu and many others all aimed at providing better self defense against an agressor.

i know that till date, have been a bit too overconfident. i know that one day i might get knocked out by that kick. i want it so that i can improve my technique. but i have a planned strategy. i in first round scare the opponent with loud shouts, khoro side kicks and turning kicks and make him **** in his pants. then in as soon as the second round starts, i go back. then suddenly lean forward and stamp my foot on the ground as if i was attacking. so the opponent for defense would go back. and as soon as he goes back, i run, jump, kick and knock out. i know that this may fail some time. and the day it will fail, i will think on another strategy. you too try. its not that difficult. if u become successful, reply me asap. thanks for advising me and telling me where i can go wrong. i had never thought about it before!!!! so thanks!!

I gotta tell ya....not all opponents are easily intimidated. If this is what your strategy is based on, change it. I don't even know you, but I gotta give you advice if you're being serious. Change that strategy now.

I went to a Taekwondo lesson once, it's honestly a joke for practical fighting.  Muay Thai, mixed w/ a bit of judo and Akido is much better.

If you want to learn something flashy learn Capoeira

About that jumpy kick, I saw a crazy guy do that against a far more novice girl who.. well, she raised her knee while he came at her and the tables quickly turned. I bet that was painful.

There's alot of martial arts names. Muay Thai. Tae Kwon Do. But even if you learn one, most still cant fight. Any big strong guy can easily take you out, street style.

I disagree completely. I think Taekwondo is one of the worst martial arts to be honest. Its too focused on kicks. What happens when someone who can puch, kick and grapple fights against you. You will lose....

I got up to the end of red belt I think. It got so boring that I just quit. Funny how since I've been working out etc instead of it I would MUCH better in a fight now than I would be if I continued it.
