Do you consider bacon to be an overused subject?

I'll admit right away that I did not want to use the word overrated because bacon tastes great once in a while, but I have been thinking about this for a while now. Isn't bacon one of the most overused subjects for jokes, stories, and even recipes? I'm tired of hearing about how bacon makes everything better (ice cream, chocolate, sex???) because it doesn't. Also are jokes about the same meat over and over really still funny? I certainly don't think so.

Worse yet you can't get away from idiots on facebook making jokes about it thinking they are clever when they are in fact discussing a topic that has more than worn out it's welcome. It's just become incredibly tiresome for me to hear nothing, but bacon jokes how awesome it is when in fact it's incredibly bad for the human body. I'd even go so far as to say it adds to the "Merica" stigma among foreigners. Almost as if to say lets embrace our unhealthy fat culture that the rest of the world so routinely makes fun of us for.

What do you think OT? Has the bacon culture worn out it's welcome?

@Serraph105: I'm going to be completely honest with you and say that I've not heard a bacon joke before.

@Serraph105: I'm not kidding. I've heard of bacon being used in milkshakes and some people putting bacon in their ice cream. But in the 27 years that I've been alive, I can't recall ever hearing a bacon joke. Unless of course you're talking about the police.

Maybe its because I don't use Facebook. I don't know.

On the internet? Yeah, sure. I don't get why but whatever.

In real life, no. No one really talks about bacon excessively in real life, at least no one I hang out with.

Maybe you should stop caring what the rest of the world think. Bacon is awesome. And that is that.

Yes, for a while it seemed like you couldn't go anywhere without someone praising the rooftops about bacon. Annoying really.

on the rachel ray show whenever she adds bacon to her meals that she is prepping, the audience goes crazy. cheese seems to have the same effect.

@themajormayor: Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're not American born right? That would explain your silliness. Bacon is THE best dead meat there is.

Please don't perpetuate the false myth that bacon is bad for the human body. I believe Mark Sisson, Diane Sanfilippo, Robb Wolf and Chris Masterjohn completely disagree. If anyone is interested in proper nutrition look them up. Fat is not the enemy, especially saturated fat. Sugar and refined carbs are the enemy. Now, Oscar Meyer bacon? yes...bad. Bacon from humanely raised pigs from your local farmers market? Superfood.

That being said, I can see how the phrase "better with bacon" can get annoying, but most foods are actually better with bacon. It will run its course, just like "that's what she said".
