I was watching an episode on DiscoveryHD and it was talking about Mars and other lifeforms in the universe, and it got me thinking. I without a doubt believe there is some other form of life out in our universe. I think its just way to big for us to be the only ones here, whether its a lifeform similar to humans or not there has to be something else out there. What do you guys think?

Yes. People have no clue how large just our galaxy is. Trillions of stars, hundreds of trillions of planets...there has to be something else out there. Now it might now be anywhere near our neck of the galaxy, or even intelligent, but there is life out there.

Given the size of the universe, I'd be rather surprised if there wasn't alien life out there somewhere.

the universe is a huge place, beyond anything I can imagine. of course there is life somewhere. Of course its probably just like bacteria.

The most we'll ever have the possibility of finding (most likely) is just the simplest lifeforms. I dream of the day where we find complex creatures, let alone intelligent life.

I believe there are other sentient lifeforms out in the universe, we just haven't encountered any. I also think we are too far away to make contact.

If we ever do meet up with sentient forms from another star system, they would probably have a more advanced civilization and technology because they have existed for a lot longer on their own planet than humans have on Earth.

I doubt we'd be the "only" living species in the universe. I bet there is other habitable planets beyond our solar system. I just don't find the sense of just us being the only life in such HUGE universe.

Ah. Is it in our Solar system?

It's a moon of Jupiter.

It's surface is an extremely thick layer of ice that covers the entire planet...or moon, rather.

Under the ice is an ocean.

There's a good chance that it has living organisms in it. We just have to send a probe there, drill through the ice, run some tests, then we'll find out.

Of course, the chances of it not existing are far less than it existing. The fact that we have been discovering so many planets and so much water (ice) in the past couple decades alone shows that there is far more to our universe than we already know... an infinite amount more.

Yes, of course there is

If there isn't then all those idiotic religious people are right and we are really son of this sadistic God they believe into

harashawn

Sorry, you wanna repeat that?!

Im saying that if there is no life out there, in any form whatsoever, then we are really the center of the Universe, the true creation of a "God". If there is life out there it somehow proves that life is random and there is nothing "creating" it. Like some cooking pan cooking the elemts to make things the way they are

Also, I used the word sadistic to describe God, because that what he seems to be, well, at least from the Church perspective. The guy is God and still want some praising from us in order to get to "Heaven" and if you dont he could punish you by taking you into hell. Sadistic in the sense that he is vindictive

I love this fantasy actually, when I was a kid, some people really scared the **** out of me by saying I would go to hell if I dont accept Jesus as my saviour

I believe in God, but the whole thing about going to Hell if you don't accept Christianity is complete BS. It's just a way to scare people into joining the church.

About calling my religion idiotic, I'm gonna let that go.

Dont take it personal :) I am a cranky bastard and I think all organised religium is idiotic

I dont think nothing is wrong if you have your own God to believe in. Your own ideas etc.....Not some historic institution with bloody hands

Good to know you are pass the "you willl go to hell if you dont believe it" by the way.
