Tragedies happen anywhere and anytime. Earthquakes, typhoons, floods and other calamities are news from time to time. Are these signs that the world is nearly to end? Some believes that the world ends in 2012, do you believe in it? The day the world ends, no one will be there, just as no one was there when it began. This is a scandal. Such a scandal for the human race that it is indeed capable collectively, out of spite, of hastening the end of the world by all means just so it can enjoy the show.

Nope, but the world ends for all of us eventually and all this doomsday hysteria is another example of people projecting their fears of inevitable death into the world. People aren't afraid of the world's doomsday, they are afraid of their own doomsday, which each of us has and none of us knows when to expect.

That Mayan thing, I remember reading somewhere that even though the long count calendar ends on that date, an even longer cycle begins after that. I'm not sure where I read it, I'd link you if I recalled where I saw it.
All those documentaries made about apocalypses and the like is just a bunch of pseudoscience, interesting as they may be.

Well, Jesus Christ told people that the end of the world would come unexpectedly. People would just be milling around, minding their own business, then BAM! Apocalypse. So I imagine that it won't happen on Dec. 21, 2012, when people are anticipating it.
