If they didn't start WW2? The German people at the time loved hitler so I doubt the nazis would have lost power in his lifetime. If hitler wasn't so war hungry I don't think anyone would of challenged his rule, then blah blah blah nazi math, I think they'd of lasted til the late 70s early 80s.

How bout u, still think we'd be dealing with the nazis today if they didn't start WW2?

Most probably Germany would have been under Nazi control for many decades, as if being under their control right now I doubt it.

Yes, I think there is no doubt about it pretty much. Truimph of the wills speech pretty much proves your theory correct.

Hitler just wanted a few little pieces of Czechoslovakia, Poland and Lithuania as redress for the injustices of the Versailles Treaty. Don't forget that it was France and the British Commonwealth that declared war on Germany, not Germany that declared war on France and the British Commonwealth.

I think a curse should rest on me — because I love this war. I know it's smashing and shattering the lives of thousands every moment — and yet — I can't help it — I enjoy every second of it.

@Stesilaus: yeah, hitler still started ww2. Hitler wouldn't have stopped at Poland and hitler attacked the Soviet Union getting them involved, which would be war mongerish thing to do.

In essence if there was no WW2........

Hitler and Mussolini would be having weekend tea with Franco.

China might be speaking Nippongo.

Anti-colonialism would be simmering if open warfare between the colonial powers and the peones haven't broken out yet.

The Soviets would probably have a secure foothold in South America

I'm not sure how long Hitler would have been able to hide the camps from the outside world. But, by the time the world found out, Germany would have been too formidable for anyone to do anything about....kinda like the decades of apartheid in South Africa. Change had to come from within.

no, Nazis wouldn't have lasted, their economy relied on expansion and invading their neighbors, without that the Nazi regime would have lost popular support, plus I thought a lot of Hilter's talk leading to his reign of terror involved a lot of talk about making the nations of the world their bitch, if he didn't plan on delivering on that promise I'm sure those that were enticed by all that talk to see him as all bark no bite and would have found themselves a new leader

Possibly, it's an interesting question I often ask myself.

Most likely, yes. The Nazi party was popular with a large portion of the German population, especially the millions who held deeply antisemitic sentiments. Much of Germany was suspicious of Jews, and feared they were going to take over Germany and turn it into a Jewish state. Only the Nazi Party was willing to offer a "final solution" to the "Jewish question". If the Nazis didn't start World War II, then in all likelhood, they could have still been in power.

Nazism and fascism were not popular outside of Germany, Italy and Japan. I don't see them taking over the world in an alternate earth.

I doubt Hitler would have ascended to his position as the head of Germany and consolidated his absolute power over the country so quickly if he wasn't as aggressively ambitious as he was or "war hungry" as you put it.

Hitler needed war to stay in power. Unless he constantly had outside enemies to target, his power would be weak.
