An Idiot Abroad.
If you don't live in the UK, then you're going to find it difficult to watch it. But I'm sure soon enough some schmuck will upload the episodes on YT.
It's litrally the funnist documentory I've seen in a long while. Pure British humor.
[QUOTE="funsohng"]Planet Earth best. documentary. ever. made. period.ChiSoxBombersbeat me to it. This. The Blue Planet's also excellent, especially the episode on deep seas.

kind of boring my history teacher made us watch that everyday
I have no idea why you had to watch that in History class, but still if you don't like that one, I don't know what to tell you. Did you watch it in Blu-ray and surround sound?Eyes on the Prize - about the American Civil Rights movement
The Smartest Guys in the Room - about the fall of Enron
Hoop Dreams - about high school basketball
Trekkies - about Star Trek fans
Memphis Belle: The Story of a Flying Fortress - the original 1940s war documentary by William Wyler, not the Hollywood movie made by his daughter in the 1980s. The Hollywood movie was good, too, BTW.

I so love Planet Earth.... In fact I think I'm in love with David Attenborough. Have you seen Life? That's just been released here in Australia on Bluray. I heard it's pretty spectacular but I was wondering how it compares to Planet Earth
EDIT: Ignore me - didn't read the post above me :P

yeah i saw life being advertised here in Canada, so that's why asked :DWell I've just read a couple of reviews - it seems steer clear of the one narrated by Oprah (!!??), but the Attenborough one is amazing. I can't quite compute how it'll top Planet Earth mind you, but many people on Amazon seem to think it's surpassed it

America: The Story of Us was pretty awesome.
I want to go see that education documentary Waiting for Superman, too.
This one I saw when I was younger, it was made in 1967 or '68 and they interviewed hippies throughout it and it had clips of hippie concerts and parks where literally hundreds of hippies would sit round having fun and stuff, It really was an amazing documentary, it really gave me an inside view of what the movement was like and what the people were like. It was like going into a timemachine really, Just all these clips and interviews with long gone people from a long gone movement.
I love '60s documentaries and interviews like that. :)This one I saw when I was younger, it was made in 1967 or '68 and they interviewed hippies throughout it and it had clips of hippie concerts and parks where literally hundreds of hippies would sit round having fun and stuff, It really was an amazing documentary, it really gave me an inside view of what the movement was like and what the people were like. We're always shown that whole decade like it was this bleak, desperate period all about the Cuban Missile Crisis and the unpopular Vietnam War, growing racial tensions and general civil unrest etc. - a country near the brink of revolution - so it's nice to be reminded how a lot of people were actually just chilling out all day at free rock concerts, doing drugs and loving everything.
History doesn't have to be all about class struggle and war... Maybe even better to just forget entirely sometimes. It's like they say: If you remember the '60s, you weren't really there.
